In case anyone's interested...
I was feeling creative and decided to make myself an axle. I have no welding knowledge/experience, and so the bar ahd to be built as such. The whole thing cost me about $30 canadian, but only because i happened to find the thick bar (i think it was from a stop sign) sitting on the side of the road. it measures 6' long overall - 4' of bar to grab + 1' of loading space on each side. The main difficulty i encountered was that i needed it to hold standard plates. So far, i've powercleaned 165lbs, and deadlifted 265lbs on it and it seems to be holding up fine. Diameter of the bar is approx. 2.2"
Now, I have 6' of bar left without any idea of what to use it for. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should try and make with the remaining bar?
picture 1 - shows entire axle....damn webcam making pictures difficult to take
picture 2 - shows a closeup of loading space.
picture 3 - shows just how much my hands DONT fit around the bar![]()
