Homocysteine status, Folic acid, B12 and B6 Levels

I was reading an article on pubmed about how anti-epileptic drugs can cause someone to have lower than average levels of folic acid, B12 and B6, and can cause negative effects to occur with one's homocysteine status. Being that I don't really know what homocysteine status is or what it should be, does anyone think this could have a negative effect on muscle building?

1:Link to article? There are 10s of antiepiliptic drugs out there.
2:You take any of them/suffer from epilepsy?
3:It is a complicated issue. In simple words, b12 gets a methyl group from 5-methyl-Tetrahydrofolic acid and transorms it in Tatrahydofolic acid. Then it gives this methyl group to homocysteine which is trasformed into methionine. I don't believe it would have a great impact in muscle gains, especially if you get a good multi

I also just did some research on pubmed and found many articles that say carbamazepine (AED) can cause someone to have a low test to SHBG ratio and can cause someone to have significantly higher SHBG levels than normal people.

    Any more info on this?

Some drugs do cause folic acid and B12 deficiency, but I think the way they cause it is by blocking the enzymes that convert your food stuffs into the obsorbably folic acid and b12. So even if you take a folic acid and b12 supplement, you may still be deficient cause the drugs stop you obsorbing it.

    I may be wrong...

From my personal experience, the fastest way to reduce the levels of homocysteine is to take B12 (cobalamin) injections. Taking b12 and folic acid pills not always helps, due to possible poor absorption.. But it is important to consult a doctor.
