How much milk? if at all

I know milk is great for bbing, protein, carbs, and other stuff, but what about the 'casine' in it which aparently slows down absorbtion of nutrience, now im no nutritionist or scientist, so im not sure, should i drink milk or not, does the casine only slow absorbtion a little whereby not making a difference, or not? thanks

I only drink milk with my protein shakes and i make it skim milk, i have about 3 shakes a day with around 300ml of milk in each but yeah, milk is good its helps your joints out which is good cause of the stress bodybuidling puts on your joints, i dont know enough to advise about your other question. Id recommend searching for articles on it on the website.

No... Milk is not great for bodybuilding... The carbs in it are absolutely worthless and most likely get stored as fat. Without the carbs, it'd be a great bodybuilding "food..." Zero milk for me.

I always thought milk was really good but i also heard that a lot of dairy foods get stored as fat.
    So iv cut down to drinking 2L a day to about 1/2 - 1 L a day.

    Heres the bottomline on milk.

Milk helps you keep you fat % down as long as you dont take in too much of it, i drink milk, but probably a pint a day at most, and having protein shakes with milk is a waste of time. Whey protein and casein protein are not milk soluble, they are water soluble and by mixing them with milk makes it harder for your body to digest it and absorb the protein....thats a fact.

The calcium in milk does aid in keeping fat off and also fat loss to a certain extent, milk is not as bad as people try to make out, mainly its mis-informed people and/or know-it-alls that claim its the worst thing you can take in.

Unless your getting ready for a contest there is absolutely no reason other than being lactose intolerant for not drinking milk, you get calories from protein and the lactose and maltose in it, yes they are simple sugars but it isnt a bad thing. Especially if your 'bulking' and trying to increase your calories.

Its a simple source of calories and they are relatively clean in comparison to some foods people eat.

There is low fat milk available, which I always have.I feel milk is essential for our overall growth, not only bodybuilding (ie.height).

I see the reason why many people detest milk, because they were forced to drink it when they were kids, and they think they've grown up.

But believe me,milk is a very nutritious food. Wrestlers (Dalip singh type of guys) have a lot of milk with eggs each day,and look at them, they're huge.

I know you guys wouldn't agree with me,but this is what I feel. And thats why I have 2 litres of milk everyday.
I,and only I am the SOLE KEY to my SUCCESS

I do belive what u are saying BB4life, yes u are correct. And I know u stated that milk is bad in shakes, but whats wrong with having it at least like once a day. I mean I have 3 shakes all consist with milk but after workout I have it with water. Why is it so bad to have have it I mean u get the extra protein in? can u please explain?

I thought i did explain, what with the harder to digest and absorb part.....

If it takes longer to digest then your losing out, the protein that you actually absorb and utilize will decrease the longer it takes to digest, this is not the same with casein as casein naturally takes longer to digest but it should still not be mixed with milk because that would cause it to take EVEN longer!!

Protein absorbtion is the most important thing involved in the intake of protein, you can take in 5g of protein per lb of lbm but if you only absorb 1g of those 5grams then 4g are going to waste. So in the same respect, by taking the protein with the milk your reducing the ammount of protein your actually going to absorb and utilize, so the 'extra' protein from the milk counts for nothing. As you will probably end up absorbing even less protein than you would if it was taken with water.

It is important to the integrity of the protein and the absorbtion rate that its put in water. I always do and have for a long time.

    Hope this helps.

Digesting protein slowly does not exactly mean that you are not absorbing it. In this respect I have to disagree with you. For instance many protein supplements are designed for slow digestion, so your body absorbs protein over a longer period of time. Milk in a protein shake will give you prolonged protein absorption, in the same way as say adding peanut butter. This is bad for afterworkout shakes, but during the day I'd say dont hesitate to add milk to your shakes, it is natures growth food. Why do you think babies drink it, because it helps them to grow. Milk is your best friend.

I've heard at high at 75% of all people are alergic to milk to some degree. If you notice ANY issue with gas or poor digestion of milk you should completely drop it from your diet. As long as that's not an issue. Drink up!

Im not gonna argue with you about it, you do what you want, for everyone else, you take whom evers advice you think is right.

And as for the babies drinking milk remark at the end, babies drink breast milk when they are born because new born babies do not have an immune system, thats one of the last things to develope in the baby. In a mothers milk a nutrient called colostrum is found and this greatly improves the babies ability to fight off any form of illness or whatever as if it had its own immune system.

You can buy bovine colostrum in supp stores but you will be wasting your money, only anew born baby up to the age of 18 weeks has the ability to digest and absorb colostrum in any form, they make a certain enzyme that the body stops producing after 12-18 weeks. No form of colostrum is of use to an adult or teenager for that matter in aiding muscle growth/ immune system function.

And you didnt read my post correctly judging by your answer.....either that or you didnt understand it, but anyway, who cares.....

    Jackpot.
