Good uses for pools and bodybuilding?

My pool should be ready to go in the next few weeks and was wondering what are some good things related to bodybuilding to do in it? I know I could go swimming in the mornings for cardio. And I hear swimming builds up the shoulders. Any other suggestions?

Baptize your pool witha pool party and show off your physique.

Most pool related exercises have more to do with rehabilitation than bodybuilding.

Swimming isn't really a good cardio exercise if u want to cut up or get better abs. Swimming causes ur fatty skin layer to build up and would cause u to look loose in the ab area, though u'll probably still be able to have visible abs.

Why would swimming cause more fat to be added on? THat is a ridiciolous statment; no cardio causes u to gain fat. Also, swimming works the lats too

the only reason I can think that swimming will cause less definition is if you drown in it and swell up like a baloon

ok well right now i would go in a pool with my camra and shoot a pool workout vid.... but my cp is having problems so i will try to tell u. (you can do it in the pool even if you cant on the ground) you can dive down and do a handstand in the pool and lift yourself up and down about 150 times a day (for me)

Best idea ever. And if you do throw a pool party to baptize your pool, don't forget to invite me to come show off my own abs as well.

I find mine useful for after workout stretching and cooling off. Other than that a home pool won't give many benifits to bodybuilding. I used to be a state level competetive swimmer and I can definently back the claims on lats and shoulders, but that's only if youre swimming hard enough to train for competition and the rest of your body looks like a twig. At that point bodybuilding is pointless unless you want to eat 3000+ in surplus calories you burn off in the pool! I weighed like 148 for sectionals in Indianapolis last summer haha

At that point bodybuilding is pointless unless you want to eat 3000+ in surplus calories you burn off in the pool! I weighed like 148 for sectionals in Indianapolis last summer haha
I'm sure OP will be glad to hear that

It would make sense that cold water swimming would signal for some increased insulation in certain areas. I don't know if its proven, but it makes some sense. If you can't at least see that cold water, plus long duration submersion, might cause a partitioning of fat layers around the body to change than the magnitude and absolute miracle that is the human body probably gets past you on the day to day.

Its no different than a callus building from consistent wear on a area of skin. The body compensates in many ways over a long period of time, and it may only apply to a professional or active swimmer. Some swimming cardio is not gioing to make you fat, but I would stick to interval stuff, and not long duration if you want to be as lean as possible over the long run. Maybe if you a model or competeing in BB'ing.....otherwise Im not sure if would matter.

    Just my opinion....
