One of my favorite sites for good equipment is www.newyorkbarbells.com and ebay of course.

Make sure you check the gauge of the steel used. Remember, the lower the number the stronger it is. Most of your cheap home gym equipment is 14 gauge or higher. Ideally, you would want your heavy load equipment (squat rack and such) to be at least 12 and more likely 11 gauge. New York Barbell has some qualilty stuff, but deltechfitness.com has similar quality and gauge for less.

    Definately New York Barbells.

Get a power rack from NYB and not a squat rack, it's so much better. That's where I got mine and I love it. It's best to find a local sporting goods store and buy your bench and weights, or shipping will kill you if you order online.

You'd be amazed at the deals you can find online. I believe fitness factory has free weights (300lb set by cap) for 99 bucks, shipping included. That beats dick's sporting goods who usually has them for 99 bucks but they bang you with tax...

    Nope. Read the not-so-fine print:

"Please Note: free shipping offer does not apply to rubber flooring or iron products such as dumbells and plates. Shipping charges will be shown on checkout pages."

after buying a smith machine with all the xtras here what i can say, lose the pec dec UNLESS you can do reverse flies, dip attath UNLESS you plan on using it..you can opt to trade dip for weight rack and i'd probly next go-a-round get a multiposition cable crossover..you can do some many exercises(cross overs upperlower, f/i/d flies ect ect) ive had mine for bout 5-6 years love having the smith and the free weight option. best thing is see whats availible locally and try a few..see how they feel..most machines cant be adjusted for your ROM(range of motion) so might wanna search for options that you want/need. one more thing a bench/smith with a slight angle is better you get a more natural feel when benching or squating.

    anyways, just my 2 cents

I just bought a bunch of stuff from "Fitness Factory Outlet" (ads every month in Muscle & Fitness) because of the free shipping. This was the main piece I got, the "Heavy-Duty Press Rack":

    http://www.fitnessfactory.com/Fitne...n&linkid=81

Quote their ad prices when you order, and they give you those rates. The power rack was $299 (online it's $399). I also picked up the utility stool ($89 in their ad), a seated calf machine ($150), an incline/flat bench ($149 in the printed ad), and a 300 lb set, and it was all delivered for about $800. (You save about $350 by having their ads in front of you.)

All equipment is Body Solid brand, which is fine. It's not the Mercedes of home gym equipment, but it's plenty good for me, and it's a good value. So far, I'd say it's excellent.

Not saying it's the single best way to go or the only good buy, but it worked out well for me, and I'm pleased.

Personally, my favorite rack is the Repfitness PR-5000 its a little pricy but the rack I use and its the best looking and functioning one, in my opinion, Lots of good benches out there sometimes it's best to try them out first in a retail store, I have used repfitness.com before for racks, primalstrength.com has a good range of weights, and had got a few other gym items from homefitnesscorp.com too many to list TBH a lot of good stuff on amazon these days as well

What country are you in OP . I’m in western Canada and have been buying equipment from a fairly new place called Bells of steel located in Calgary Alberta.
I do have small issues with their incline bench , but I haven’t found a company yet that does it perfect . I swear I should have been an engineer instead of a Miscer.
Btw they have the best flat bench I’ve ever used . It’s the power lifting flat bench second link

    https://www.bellsofsteel.com/product...gth-equipment/

    https://www.bellsofsteel.com/all-pro...ng-flat-bench/

    I can’t believe I don’t have a decent pic , but you get the idea .
I custom painted the flat one , and past it is their incline bench . I have a 2/4 under the front as I don’t care for the angle settings , but it’s probably subjective .
They are built like a tank though
