    caloric deficit

so i have a question about calorie deficits. ive seen this guy on youtube do a caloric deficit for 30 days and he worked out very regularly lost fat but also lost 4kg of muscle. im currently in a deficit but the guy on youtube had all this nutritional meals lots of protein healthy meals and all that. i just have to eat whatever my mums cooks and brekky and i just stay away from snacks. should i do strength training eveen though im in a deficit and not getting enough protein or should i just wait the deficit out and then start strength training because to me it seems like it wouldnt be worth the trouble of strength training to lose the little muscle i would gain also i aint 52 dont know why it say that.

Strength training is recommended while you're in a deficit. Even without it, you'd have to do a lot of monumentally stupid things to lose 4 kg of muscle in 30 days.

So are you using your example to justify doing strength training or an argument against it? Kinda unclear why you mentioned it at all.

We do advise strength training when dieting. Our advice comes from evidence such as controlled trials where groups of people have their muscle mass and other things measured carefully.

Just randoms off youtube could easily be misleading you either intentionally or unintentionally. One possible reason is that it's very hard to measure body composition accurately. BIA devices for example are notoriously inaccurate and mislead many people.
