Olympics are no longer about sportsmanship and nations coming together. It has been politicized. It's controlled by globalist scum, just like anything else in the world.
Having said that, athletes should go. Athletes are similar to Soldiers. Athletes want to represent their nation, much like Soldiers want to serve their nation (not knowing that criminal politicians only think of both of them as political tools).
It will be an interesting year for sure. With Taiwan and Ukraine brewing. This above all..

As much as I am against funnelling any money China's way, these athletes need to go if they so desire.
They want to represent their country, many have trained years for this and for some it is their only shot.
Need to shelf the politics and let these athletes fulfill their dream.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999

Agreed. Not gonna lie. As much as I hate the politics and politicians involved, I still watch the Olympics. Not because of nationalism, but because of Humanism. Each athlete - regardless of what country they represent - often has a beautiful story to share to Mankind. The kind of stories that give hope to Humanity.
Be honest, bro. If LWW represented the US in bobsled you'd be cheering for him. You be all "Let's go tater!!!! WOHOOOO!"This above all..

I think they should go, but I worry about them being spied on and if they might be targeted by that unknown microwave weapon that has harmed many of our representatives who travel abroad.

I believe goat events are only for summer olympics, bruh. Although I believe there is trans figure skating event.
The question is: If a tranny is ice skating superfast and then he/she spins up in the air.....
..and all of a sudden his / her dingaling and ballz start hanging out like Tarzan...
..will the world be prepared for such event? These are possible scenarios we all have to consider. This above all..

Without the USA there the Chinese become irrelevant, but a boycott will not do a damn thing to convince China to eliminate their forced labor camps or mass genocides against whichever group they feel needs to be exterminated next.
I'm a fan of the Olympics and would love to attend some events at a future event but I think thie go around I wont be watching much because I prefer to watch them live and with the 12 hr time difference and fukked up tv coverage it ruins it."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

Once upon a time the Olympics were a showdown between us (amateurs) and the soviets with China running a distant 3rd in medal count, and it was compelling!
somewhere in the 90's we, they (the olympic committee) decided it would be a good idea to let professional athletes compete for us...
the Olympics aren't the Olympics anymore and they haven't been for a long time...
they've been reduced to some sort of sports festival that nobody really pays attention to..
just my opinion

Have some vague memory of that change. Wasn't it where we got to see the dream team the first time? Anyhoo, whatever category they fall into, I'm just hoping to see the best and for it to be free from politics. The Olympics is such an amazing event for us all, especially now that it can be shared more easily than anytime before - let it be the people's thing and way of uniting ppl worldwide.

I'm curious about the ones who didn't train years for this. Did they train for months? Or just thrown in a van and told they were doing ski jumps in the Olympics tomorrow?
I don't read it that way.
In 1980 when our hockey kids beat Russia's best professional players for the "miracle on ice" I think it changed things a little.
When we sent our best basketball players to the Olympics it was never a foregone conclusion, unlike the Soviets with that hockey team.
It might be healthy to remember why the Olympics started. Rather than going to war, nations sent their best athletes to compete and honor their home country.Last edited by Bando; 01-28-2022 at 11:00 PM.

Was too young then, but think this was our "miracle"...besting the Soviets...and remember that 9-0 against Canada..was some sort of record.

Sounds like the spirit of the original original games (Panhellenic games) there, where athletes could come and represent their (Greek) state or city and there was a truce for athletes when states were in conflict with each other (which was a lot of the time)
If the ancient Greek could do it, we *should* be able to do it too. Still leaves the question of if we *will* be able to do it.Faith in Jesus first and faith in squats second.
Then other details will start to slot themselves into place.
