    Most recommended olympic weightlifting shoes?

What is the most recommended olympic weightlifting shoes in the market right now? Budget is probably anything under $150. I've tried barefoot and converses and I would like to give olympic weightlifting shoes a try before judging whether it's appropriate for me.

Top OL shoes are Adidas and Nike which I think at full retail are roughly $200 so your budget to sample is almost there anyway. I've owned everything but Nike over the years but can't speak to modern shoes other than Adidas - I owned a pair of original Do-Winn imports from Glenn Pendlay back in the day when he was bringing them in for his young lifters in TX. Had a really high heel back then and had to have them ground down twice. PITA and not worth it to me. I also should have never given away my pair of classic Adidas shoes that are basically collectors items today but my buddy needed them - sucks.

Honestly the conclusion I came to is that I'm just going to own Adidas and if you aren't a growing kid and only wear them in the gym they last nearly forever so done. Given your price point is nearly at the top of the line shoe...you might just check out what used shoes are going for on Ebay or similar. You might find that if it doesn't work out you can sell a like-new pair of top end shoes and not lose much vs a more budget brand. Then again Rogue is a big Do-Winn shop now so resale on those might be great too as everything affiliated with Crossfit and Rogue tends to move easily these days.

No wrong decision but at $150...I'd seriously look into Adidas as they aren't far from your mark.

which Adidas model though? Pretty sure one of them using a foam sole which just seems dumb.

I have a pair of Inov8 fastlift. Have held up well for five years or so but I don't use them for everything. The only time I definitively wear them is if I'm squatting

I think you need some place you can try them on or at least return them. I tried Nike's Romaleos first and they were too narrow for me (also expensive). I was able to return those and ordered a set of Do-Wins from Rogue. I am very happy with them.

It seems likely that barbell training would be more efficiently performed if it had more in common with engineering than with astrology -- Rippetoe

I usually buy shoes from Amazon with free returns. I'll buy multiple styles/brands, and sizes and send the ones I don't want back.

That's a good idea. My only concern re:Amazon is the proliferation of knock offs and returns that are being sold. I'd recommend the OP stick to sellers with good reputation, but honestly I've had several Amazon direct products that were clearly returns.

I always make sure to check the most recent reviews to see if a product has gone downhill and/or has been replaced with a knockoff. I think the default sort just shows the best reviews even though it's supposed to be the most relevant.
