No, never. My side delts didn’t really grow until I started doing lateral raises.

Sounds like it is just a weak point then. I'll put a focus on my side delts next month or 2 and see if that helps

Could it possibly be a lack of blood flow getting to the area? Tightness, knots. That kind of thing. Could be something a decent stretch session or a sports massage might help with.

The extent to which the OHP stimulates the side delts is an interesting question... Apparently it does somewhat, but moreso the anterior deltoid, which tends to be more prominent in many cases from benching, especially.

Not at all surprised that you could feel overhead presses in the medial deltoids, but lateral raises would be the better choice to hit them directly, IMO.

OHP is a challenging, rewarding compound shoulder lift though. I wouldn't stop doing it.

Yes. What you feel might not be an indication of how activated they are. Do they feel sensitive or 'knotty' when you do full range lateral raises? Perhaps they are just responding the the generally increased level of bloodflow in the delts.

Actually that's not an exercise that I tend to feel in the medial delts; immediately, at least. Their attachment at the humurus seems like it would have to be at least somewhat involved in the concentric motion as the contraction there pulls it upward, but I don't know how meaningful that is. When I started OHPing with some seriousness I did notice my shoulders looking a little better but actually less inordinate, somehow.

To me it is weirdly one of the more grueling exercises despite being one of the lightest compounds...

It's a burning sensation in the side delts. The main reason I've asked to make sure it's the side delts and not my rotator cuff. I'll next be doing on ohp on Sunday so I'll put a video up for you all to assess my form. Appreciate the replies

How wide a grip are you using? The wider you go, the more the lateral delts get stressed on overhead pressing.

Like previous said, likely grip has some play, or previous exercises in the routine pre exhausting.

    Side question regarding ohp.
I've heard it's hard to train bench and ohp at same time.
Would someone need to train OHP if at home they don't have a squat rack so they must lift the barbbell off the ground press it overhead anyways to do the squat?

I superset dB ohp with band lateral raises. Only then are my side delts on fire
