    Lightbulb Calling Out Steffo

    Steffo, you mentioned in an earlier thread that you suffer from anxiety or sleep issues?

    I'm no doctor, but I play one on the internet.

    I am going to be trying out L-Theanine in the AM and PM for focus, relaxing and possibly better sleep, adding it to my homemade ZMA. I have had insomnia since my early 20s.

    Hey Mark,

    Yeah, never really tried any stuff like this before...and am right now about 2 weeks or so into 5-htp and Lion's mane mushroom. Still haven't opened the ashwagandha I got but these were the 3 things I bought (and that quite a few report having success with) just to try out. So far I haven't noticed anything drastic, but bought enough for 2 months use so will see. Don't expect any miracles, just thought it could be worth a try tbh. It seems fairly likely there would be some compounds out there in nature which would help, but not easy to figure out which ones. A little trial and error basically for me.

    Interesting, will read up a little on that. And pls feel free to let us know if anyone has had any luck with something else.

    If sleeping is the issue , take two calcium before bed . If you can find multi minerals , take one b4 before bed also .
    Not to be confused with vitamins, as it must be minerals only . Usana used to sell them separately.
    Also buy blue blocking glasses . The excessive blue emitting from your tablet, phone , computer etc , will keep you up at night .
    Blue blocker glasses really help with this problem .

    Only good ideas I can think of right now besides not exercising too late in the evening

    Thanks for the advice MajorT. For me it's mostly anxiety/stress related issues and ofc it affects sleep patterns and quality as well.

    i am on hrt (female) and one of the things they added to my pile is progesterone....

    i hate taking things - so i stalled a month after i got it - not sure what i was afraid of...

    so sleep issues for males can be low t or low progesterone related! saw the thread and did a little research - i knew low t could cause sleep issues - but i guess progesterone is a precursor to test endogenously - so - just sayin - too much is bad - but so is too little.

    so i take my rx as rx'd - and sleep better than i have for the past decade - i'm 43 - and my sleep issues are also anxiety (life, kids, business) and this is waaaaaaay better than those kind of meds - no hangover feeling in the morning.

    my $0.02 - just sayin

    but seriously - one of my adult kiddos uses cbd and sometimes thc - but she doesn't get tested anywhere - so that could be a limiting

    Actually asked my doctor twice if it wouldn't be a good idea to check levels...just in case, but they are very strange here and really don't want you to get tested for some reasons. Certain things just seem taboo for no good reason over here, but have thought about just sending for a self test kit now that it seems more common.

    Same with certain illnesses, if you suspect you have one and display all symptoms, they still don't even want to entertain the idea in some cases and even reject refering you to a specialist (Happened 3-4 times with me and read of many with similar stories). Could be internationally recognized illnesses, but it is clear they don't believe in some of them and even express it openly in newspapers. For some procedures, some (that can afford) have even had to go abroad to places like Belgium etc...and then fight to retroactively get money back from our state (which is supposed to provide mostly "free" healthcare.)

    You can even go in prepared as a lawyer and argue your case and leave them with no real objections and they stay mostly silent but still reject your request at the end (with no explanation). You can't really hold anyone or civil servants responsible here, that just doesn't exist. The social democrats got rid of those laws in the 70's. Same party is today pushing to change our constitutional laws in 3 different ways and seeking to limit freedom of speech btw. Unrelated but throwing that in there, lol.

    Good to know about CBD. I take Melatonin, as it is part of ZMA, so combined with CBD might be good. Interesting about phenibut. I probably won't try that, though.

    Started Ashwagandha last night and is supposed to take about 2 weeks to work, if at all, so will report later. Saved a few vids regarding recommendations in this thread so thanks for that and will watch soon.

    Ok, update on L-Theanine. I am not taking L-Theanine only before bed and with my ZMA.

    I have noticed a difference in quality and duration of sleep. Deeper sleep, which has been nonexistent for me for years. I always dread Sunday nights before Mondays because it always seems to be my worst sleep night. But, last night, the only thing that woke me was having to go to the restroom. And, I slept pretty well.

    For sleep, I am never encouraged, but this has proven to be different. I hope it lasts.

    I think I paid $22 for 365 count 200mg L-Theanine. 1 per evening is good value.

    Good idea. I load up on caffeine during the week and take weekends off of it.
