    Is it only me that thinks Elitefts is a shady company?

    I ordered from them before but I always get similar inaction from them.

    Their products are often overpriced and charge a very hefty custom fee. UPS does this for some companies but I believe they get a kickback.

    I tried to order some bands from them recently, ALL payment methods fail with obscure error messages. It just doesnt work. You can't pay credit card or paypal.

    Ok so I email them, they say they can take my order and quote. I send a screenshot of the total I had after applying a discount code and the auto added band, no reply.

    Now that free band is also removed.

    Just find this company quite shady in their operations. Is it only me?

    No idea about this company, but some of what you describe is pretty normal when trying to buy stuff from the US and ship to Canada.

    UPS ground shipping to Canada is insanely expensive because of all the extra fees they add. It’s not a kickback.

    Many US companies cannot process Canadian payment credit or debit cards. Sometimes the company can manually process the card. PayPal can fail too if shipping address doesn’t match payment or you’re unverified.

    I've never purchased anything from them because whatever I wanted didn't qualify for free shipping and the shipping costs keep them from being competitive with other companies, at least for me. I also seem to recall seeing some complaints about their customer service, but far as I know they are completely legit. Have you tried calling them? If web and email aren't working, a lot of times speaking to a real person helps, though not always. These days, customer service seems to be lacking in general with a lot of companies.

    Never heard truly bad stuff and they've been in business forever so I figure them as legit. That said, every time I've tried to buy from them the shipping was exorbitant so that nuked it. I'd imagine going across the Canadian border and different currencies aren't really their thing. They seem USA and PL centric.

    Bought a few things (bands, SSB, misc) from them and had no issues. Their CS was good to me and things shipped as expected.

    I don't buy much from them because I think most of their prices are too high but nothing shady

    I have bought a ton of stuff from them over the years including a collegiate power rack, glute ham raise, reverse hyper (when they used to sell the westside version), countless bands, bars, and tons of accessories. I love the company and the owner is a great guy. They're not shady at all, I don't think. Instead, what they really struggle with is being a competent business. Of all the orders I've made, I've never had one order that went perfectly smoothly, there is always some issue that arises, whether it's delayed shipping, somethign appears to be on sale but when you get to the cart it's the wrong price, they've sent PL gear that was the wrong size, etc. I truly believe they do the best they can and there is nothing shady going on, I just don't think they are very business savvy, even after being in business as long as they have. I could go on and on about my frustrations with that company bc I really like the owner and want to support him, but the way he runs his business makes it hard to.

    I have no concerns about them taking my money and running if that's what you mean. However, I have experienced a lot of technical issues with their website. Sales will mysteriously disappear for an hour (I can't recall what time exactly, but it's always the same) and reappear later. $ off sales sometimes take the wrong amount off. This would seem intentional if not for the fact I have seen it error in the customer's favor more than once. Putting all of that aside though, I did have one experience that I would classify as somewhat shady. I ordered a bar and after a month I finally received notification that it was shipping - from a state where EliteFTS has no warehouse, etc. The bar eventually arrived looking very much used in a box with a return name/address that wasn't EliteFTS at all. It was some powerlifter that appears to be a friend/acquaintance of Dave Tate. From start to finish, customer service jerked me around and, ultimately, I decided not to purchase from them again. If you search this forum you'll find that many people have complained about the condition of the equipment they received and the lack of customer service that followed when they complained to EliteFTS. YMMV of course.

    I had a similar experience to what you described in that I ordered a pair of briefs, they sent the wrong size, and it took them about a week to identify that they sent my briefs to another customer, and he got mine, so they sent me a shipping label for me to package the briefs and ship directly to the other customer, and he did the same with my briefs. It took about 2 weeks for them to figure what happened and what to do about it, and then approx another two weeks to get the actual briefs I ordered. So I wouldn't be surprised if they had a customer that didn't want the bar, they just had him ship it directly to you. Or perhaps he was given a few bars to mess around with, and then when they got your order, asked him to ship it to you. To me that's just not very professional.

    I don't think they are shady and I think Dave is probably a pretty good guy from everything I've seen/heard. That said, I don't think they really make any equipment themselves. I believe Williams does their racks and whatnot and the actual amount of staff EliteFTS has is under 20 if I remember correctly.

    They’ve done right by me - had their UK COO working personally to get me a bar that I wanted, and it came in quick and in good condition. Didn’t care for it quite as much as I’d hoped (should have gone Kabuki despite the wait!) but can’t fault the service.

    I've only purchased a couple cable attachments from them but everything was great. Although I know there are quite a few people here who dislike them for their past Black Friday deals and sales. They don't appear to manage their site well when it comes to pricing things correctly, and then they are unwilling to work with the customer when they accidentally sell something cheaper than they intended.

    A few years back they ran a deal on their SS Yoke alongside a free shipping deal. You got the bar for like, $80 off plus free shipping or something, which was a screaming deal. Tons of people put in orders that were accepted, then they decided that that deal wasn't what they meant to offer.

    So they called everyone and said you could pay for shipping or cancel the order. Felt like a bait and switch to me... get you in and excited for the deal, then pull back when they already got you. I cancelled my order and haven't bought anything from them since. I've seen others have similar poor customer service experiences. Not really anyone I'd look to spend much money with.

    Years ago, I'm going to say somewhere around 2009/2010 I bought some bands from them and a few of them started to tear within about a month. I called customer service and spoke to someone with an attitude named Ronda, she said to mail them back and they'll take a look at them. So, they send me a defective product and I should at my expense go to the post office to mail them back (returns weren't as easy back then) and then they'll decide if they'll replace them or not. I told her forget it, I'll buy them elsewhere. So, I bought a bunch of bands from Iron Woody which I still have and use today.
    I haven't bought from them since. There are so many other options out there, why be bothered with these lame-asses.
