Question How common are WEEKLY weight fluctuations?

I just started tracking my weight 3 weeks ago and they go as followed:

    Week 1: 135.2
    Week 2: 135.4
    Week 3: 136.2

I thought i’ve been eating at maintenance and was just wondering if this is a fluctuation or if I actually gained a pound in 3 weeks. I’m a female and not sure if it’s my sodium/water intake but it’s not that time of the month for me so we can rule that out.

it's a common fluctuation, although you can't really tell until you see weeks 4 and 5. chances are your weight is actually staying the same and you're just overthinking it

weigh yourself daily if you need to know more precisely

Fluctuating up and down a couple of pounds week to week I'd still consider maintenance. It's unrealistic to remain exactly the same weight week to week, even at maintenance. There are so so many things that can make the scale go up or down a bit.

    So yes, it's normal.

I would say unless you're actively cutting or bulking, fluctuations within a 5 pound window should not be a concern, as just sodium levels, the amount of poop you have inside you at any given time can make that difference irrelevant to your calorie consumption.

Be sure to weigh yourself at the same time every day. For example morning is best when you wake up, go bathroom then weigh so its consistent.
