    Current physique

It’s been awhile. Trying to get back on track here after an extended period of long overnight hours at work. I was originally sitting around 188 12-13%. Currently I am 187 and I believe that my BF has climbed considerably which tells me I have lost significant lean mass. Looking for a current % estimate and a little advice on whether to bulk at a slight surplus. My guess is 18-20% currently. A few buddies that I haven’t seen in awhile asked me if I stopped lifting and that I’m looking kinda skinny. Pretty frustrating to hear if I’m being honest.

I think you are leaner, around 15% now. Too much definition to be close to 20%.

Just eat at maintenance, lift and enjoy some «newbie» gains from the muscle memory?

Eating at maintenance should be fine.

I'd say you're closer to 16-18 percent bf right now.

Thanks guys. Just trying to figure out how far I strayed from my Avi pic. I was 188 in that pic. Being 187 currently with guesses of 16-18% has me thinking I lost pounds of muscle.

You can regain lost gains pretty quickly. Just work out a bunch and hit your protein macros, your body should recomp most of the way before you have to worry about bulking/cutting.

Possibly, but I bet you can get it all back within a couple of months with good nutrition and training, and the extra fat gain is just superficial

Quick update on a month and a half-ish recomp. It was a matter of getting out of my head and making the best out of my situation. I’m nothing special….businesses are short handed and people are being overworked all over the country. I got off of my pity pot and ate 200above maintenance and started PHUL with 20 mins HIIT on my 2 off days. I also walk about 2 miles every morning after work. Here is the result from last month to now. Strength is still down but I’m going more for hypertrophy at my age anyway. 43 is no spring chicken and I happen to like my joints.

Don't know if it's a difference in lighting, pics... but I'd say you've thickened back up a bit from the OP.

This. Definitely looks like you've made great progress. But differences in lighting can make a huge difference. I'm sure you've packed on a good amount of what you lost.
