    Unhappy Back in the gym after Covid

    Hi Guys,

    Before Covid I consistently went to the gym 5/6 days a week. Because of Covid I haven't been to the gym since March 2020 and have only started going again this week. I'm motivated, however I feel like i'm starting again from scratch as all my strength gains have literally vanished. Will I return to my previous state quicker than starting from scratch ? If so, how long should I expect to be back in shape.

    You probably haven't lost all the muscle mass that you gained. Strength is partly about muscle mass but also about neural factors. The latter can be lost quite quickly but will also come back quite quickly. Also, any lost muscle mass can be regained more quickly - muscle memory is a real physical phenomenon.

    I can't put a number on how long it will take though. Just get your head down and get going.

    After 1 month and a half of consistent training (3-4 times a week) you should be able to fully recover all your muscles back.
    Don’t be demotivated, your gains will come I just started working out just now and I’m starting my journey from 145lbs to 185 wish me luck

    Look, man, I'm no expert, but as many here have also said, muscle memory is there for that. Of course you will need to dedicate yourself, but it definitely won't take that long.
    The fact that you have already trained pretty consistently before the break will really play in your favor.

    it doesn't matter, what are you going to not workout again because you might have lost some strength? no? then why does it matter? just go and get back too it, strength comes back a bit quicker if you have some semblance of knowing what you're doing, but really who cares. there is no going back so go work hard and grind it out.

    If you have negative consequences with your lungs after an illness, then do not expect a very quick recovery.

    I was in the same boat, demotivated after all the quarantine… however with grayskull lp 4days a week with the amrap + compund excersises you will be back soon

    Ah, you should have kept going. Everyone else was too afraid to go. You would have been the only one there and thus safe from covid.

    I wish I had known that over a year ago.
