Question Need help finding a good functional trainer

Hey guys. I need some help. I have a smaller room that I'm making into a home gym. I'm trying to find the ideal functional trainer for that room. In the past I used to lift weights a lot. I benched 350+, squatted 500+. Ive been out of the game for a while and have got significantly weaker. I would like to get back into it. Since I dont have a ton of room, I would like a functional trainer that will allow me to do a wide variety of exercises. Ive been doing a lot of research and from what I've seen, the FTs that are always listed as the best are the XMark, Inspire FT2 or the FT1, Force USA G6 or G12, and Titan. The problem I'm having is 1. I dont know how good any of these brands are 2. Many of these are 2:1 weight ratio which would only give me half the weight from the stack during exercise. I'm afraid I will grow out of the the weight not long after I purchase it 3. The price of some of these machines is ridiculous. If anyone could give me some advice I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Costco usually has a decent price on the Inspire. Given the weight you are looking to lift maybe you can find an upgraded ft2 as people start selling their gym stuff. You sure a half rack wouldn't get the job done?

ForceUSA, Xmark and Titan get a hard no from me. Any one of the Inspire machines is a good choice. The Inspire FTX is back to full price at Costco, but it's still a great value at $1,299. You can also get 5% cashback if you have a Discover card and buy by 6/30.

    https://www.costco.com/inspire-fitne...100486673.html

The weight stacks can be upgraded for about $800 (contact Inspire), which still makes it cheaper than the FT1. Alternately, you can buy a GymPin (or similar product from member, Joe D) to increase the weight of the stack. Do keep in mind, however, that FTs are primarily intended for accessory movements rather than heavy, compound lifts.

Just curious, why would ForceUSA be a bad choice?

Pretty much all FTs are going to be at least 2:1, some pulley machines have a lat pulldown component that is 1:1 but that's rather rare. If you're worried about running out of weight then you're likely going to have to spend a decent amount of money. My suggestion would be something like the FT1 and use a gym pin to add olympic plates if needed. If you want to spend a lot, the Prime FT is amazing and with two 265 lb stacks you're going to be pretty well set.

Their pulley systems aren't particularly smooth. Everything they make is on the low end of the quality scale. Pre-pandemic at least their prices were considerably lower and thus, there was more value in their products. Now I just can't see buying any of it.

I own and highly recommend the Inspire FT1. Mine has the 210lb weight stacks and is used a lot. I wouldn’t ever want to let it go, but that said, I still kept my Bodymaster lay pull/mid row as I prefer it for those exercises. I also have lots of plates and dumbells for heavier compound lifts.
If I HAD to sell either the FT or the lat machine, I would keep the FT and make do on the heavier pulling/rowing exercises.

I only just picked up my Inspire FTX from costco a little over a month ago. Something that isn't mentioned about it, it has a significantly smaller footprint than the other choices, and is just about perfect in a corner. A 6x6 area holds the machine, and gives me full ROM on anything I do. It's also probably shorter than all the other options, which may be annoying for some people. It also comes with a short bench, that really increases it's versatility, especially considering the shorter overall height.
