From the little I’ve seen and heard was a crazy year. Tom started off great, almost got passed by Brian, and then obviously killed it in the stones securing the win. Also, somehow JF Caron was able to place 5th despite tearing his hamstring on the first event. Dude’s a legit animal. Sad Brian wasn’t able to get his 5th title, but all considered, placing 2nd at 39 years old is already impressive asf.

Quite the comp! Would have been happy with a Shaw win, but the underdog story is cool too!!

I wouldn't call Tom Stoltman an underdog. I'm sure this is only the first of several WSM titles he'll win. The kid is not even to his prime yet and been coached about recovery techniques by Eddie Hall. He and his brother are going to be sharing podiums for the next several years.

He was an underdog going into this competition. Vegas odds favored Shaw.

Obviously, Tom proved them wrong, and I agree, he'll be favored in WSM for a long time to come!
EDIT: while Tom was thought highly of and a fair share of experts liked him, it looks like a number of oddsmakers also favored Novikov.

    Congrats to Stoltman!

They all did a great job, but there can be only one winner and Stoltman did the greatest job.

I doubt Shaw is down for the count though. He's a tough competitor and a great athlete.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski stayed on Poland, but if he were there, I think he would have given both Shaw and Stlotman a good run for the money.

All of the competitors put on a good show, and the old cowboy town was a good backdrop for the contest.

All in all, good show, and Great Entertainment!

Is there an event where Oberst can routinely beat Shaw? He want's to so badly (besides an eating challenge).

Shaw is just a first-class human being; great sportsmanship, super humble, just a real nice guy.
That's why I'll always be a fan of Shaw, but Stoltman gives me a similar vibe and I'm not disappointed he won.
