    Critical Race Theory for Dummies

My kids are half Filipino and half Polish. That makes them Cauc-Asian. Ya dig?

So critical race theory (CRT) is another Marxist goat turd designed to make white kids feel guilty and to make brownies feel entitled to something. Whatever that something is. Cuz you know. History and $hit.

With CRT, are my kids supposed to feel half guilty because of their 50% white privilege and at the same time feel half entitled to something that their half whiteness are supposed to provide?

This is a complete mindphukk. It’s like two castrated inbred West Virginia goats trying to fornicate.

    I am

    The Sovereign Goat Man

    And I hate commies.

    Ya follow?

CRT is making judgements about people based on crude stereotypes of their racial heritage --> so isn't that a racist theory??

How about a we just follow a much older theory, to paraphrase slightly for brevity

    Exactly.

CRT is both racist and marxist.

I see this a lot but can anyone show proof that CRT is being taught in grade school? Critical race theory is a subset of critical theory and is pretty complicated. I can’t believe they teach that level of sociological analysis in high school.

None of it is being taught anywhere. Thank you for the genius level response. We owe you a debt of gratitude.

So CRT is not a method of analysis taught in graduate and law schools that looks at how legal and systems function on the ground in ways that maintain existing socioeconomic hierarchies but a term that right-wing political activists have inserted in place of “Sharia Law” as the current nonsensical moral panic? 👍

Kids in school should be taught ONLY the types of races in the world, so they are aware, and they should be told that "you are all special, and you all have special talents, and you can always pick up talents you never know you had and NONE of your talents has nothing to do with race" along with "your race may be special at home to your mamma and pappa, but in the world, it's NOT, keep it at home where is belongs, your NOT special, better or worse than anyone because of your race"

What you are denying is literally being debated in your backyard on the East coast. The term and curriculum were derived from the left Marxist principles. If I had children, I would not want them exposed to such an effort to indoctrinate instead of teaching them how to think.

Can you give an example? I certainly don’t see it in what my boys are doing in school. The way I understand Critical Theory, is it was originated by the Frankfurt School to be a possible explanation for the actions of individuals aggregated to systems/institutions, only focusing the aperture to race. There's other branches of critical theory like technology theory, social theory, critical legal studies and so on.

So CRT is largely a stodgy concept that until last year lived exclusively in academic circles and was enlisted in the culture wars to provide grounds to object being taught the actions of white people against minority groups in America. The span between what CRT is and why it's being invoked in these arguments seems incredibly expansive.

It is not my position to prove that CRT is being taught in schools and that there are parents who are outraged. Anyone who listens or reads any “news” is aware. I am not in the debate. I am just pointing out an obvious occurrence that you are denying. I am surprised really. Most of the time you are honest

lol, I'm not the old Canuckastanian here!

but me, I dig most of what's being said here. I typically find NG's threads thought provoking, and some even downright sexy!

I've got no relevant opinion to share on the topic, cuz it doesn't really apply to me.

I agree CRT is often being discussed by politicians and talking heads on he news. Although I never see any evidence of it in any particular curriculum and I certainly don’t see it in what my kids are learning. It doesn’t seem to be any more than a right wing boogeyman phrase now. It's like how there was no event to trigger the transgender bathroom drama, it was just republicans inventing a problem and forcing a solution. They're pushing to ban a theory in public schools that is only taught at an advanced college level in select fields.

Same. 5th and 3rd grader at least until end of day today. Haven't seen this in our part of NY and I'm pretty involved. I keep hearing about it but figured it was just another "boogie man" blown out of proportion used as red meat to feed a certain base. Have to have some new hits for upcoming rallies if they expect to fund that "war chest".

You are correct, left and right wing are lazy words that are generally used pejoratively to describe the extremes of the political spectrum. I should do better avoiding such generalizations but in the context of my post I used it as a catch-all for Conservative political activists, talking heads, politicians, etc.

So every once in a while I listen to AM Republican talk radio just to see what the new "outrage" of the week is. This topic is the new way to piss off the base and motivate them to feel victimized EVEN FURTHER. Let me tell you it is working!
I am not sure if Putin himself gave the order, in an effort to divide us further, or if it is just something to feed the base. Either way, it is being used to create a sense of imaginary shame about ones background or ethnicity.

I'm not Republican, but I guess the uproar in Virginia is just made up and also made up by some right-wing conspiracy? No one here said CRT has penetrated every county in the US. In Virginia, Fairfax County, considered Ground Zero of the CRT debate, a lot of parents (apparently right-wing MAGA activists) are fighting against CRT being taught to their children and they have a right to contest it if they believe it is not or should not be part of their children's curriculum. Not because they are MAGA, not because they supported what happened on January 6, not because they are all Trumpers or not because they all hate black people and not because they are all secret members of the KKK.

Since a few people here don't have access to the internet, here are some links just to show I didn't make this post up. If anyone needs assistance on how to click on a link and open it, please PM me. But, if you know how to Google, try Googling: Virginia critical race theory debate.

By the way, all of these links are not from right-wing activist websites.

Funny a few of you are already accusing others here of being political, when it is just an obvious topic that is worth discussion without shallow accusations of right-wing this and right-wing that, as opposed to anything substantive or supportive.

It's ok to not agree with each other, but to knee-jerk state that it is all a right-wing conspiracy and all the Republicans fault, indicates you have no argument.

Yup, and I think the idea is to oppose it before it becomes part of the regular school curriculum if there are signs it is heading in that direction.

    So lemme splain.

Libertarians = small gubmint crew = do not realize small gubmint always become big gubmint = to the right of the conservatives but still statists

Anarchists = NO gubmint = real right wingers

    From one of your links:

The bills offered by Republicans prohibit teaching that the U.S. is “fundamentally or systemically racist,” that traits such as “a hard work ethic” were created by “a particular race to oppress another race,” or that individuals by virtue of their race are “inherently responsible for actions committed in the past by other members” of the same race, among other things.
I couldn't imagine any rational person having an issue with this if this is what it really was.

But see here's my issue. Where exactly is this being taught in grade school? Serious question, I truly don't know. I can see it being taught in college as an elective and that's OK.

No, what I think and what this Hill piece lays out is this is political grandstanding; creating a problem and then offering a solution for some sort of political gain.

“The attorney general even cited at the end of his opinion [that it] shall have no effect or encroachment on academic freedom or freedom of speech,” she stated. “So he kind of even recognizes in his own opinion that this document is really just political grandstanding and won't have any effect on teachers and schools.”
As each day passes I'm leaning more into our Goat Mans theories of "evil gubbmit". I'd like to see the same energy each side uses to cancel and stick it to each other instead used for the overall good. Like Doug said, and I believe, most of us mainly want the same things. Its the power grabbers and grifters that need the division in order to do whatever the fuk they are trying to do. And IMO this is just another large spoonful of crap to feed a hungry base.

Anyhoo, as a parent of young kids I have already and will continue to remind my kids they never need to apologize for being born white or having all their needs met. I'll continue to be involved in their education and hopefully a positive force in their lives shielding out much of this outside nonsense.
