The Beighton score, what’s yours and does anyone know how it can affect exercise?

Hyper mobility in joints runs in my family on my dads side. So does arthritis. By 25 years old all my siblings and cousins on my dads side including my dad and my uncle developed arthritis

I score a 7 easy on this test. Does anyone know what it can mean in relation to exercise.

    1. I can do with locked knees and even almost go till my elbows touch the ground

    2. Both my elbows do this

    3. My knees don’t do that and they both are arthritic

    4. Both thumbs do this

    5. Both pinky fingers actually go farther back than 90 degrees

Solid zero to 1 here if I did everything right. #1, Palms about 8 inches from floor with knees locked. #5, left pinky goes almost to 90 degrees.

1 - yes, I can (long wingspan + trying to do a pancake stretch routine helped)
2 & 3 - I think so, but maybe I don't do them correctly, they both look easy
    4 - edit: No, I can't!
5 - hell, noooo! who can do that?

If you have a rheumatologist they are the specialists we refer to for hypermobility issues.

I’ve actually never even talked about it with them. I only found out about the fact I have lupus a couple years ago. Before that is was what the hell is wrong half the time.

I had creatine in my piss
    History of seizures
    Gi issues
History of pleurisy, when ever I get sick it’s in my lungs and get that, also had pneumonia more times than the flu

Finally I had a kidney biopsy
    And after the second biopsy

    Bam lupus
Then saw a rheumatologist, but hyper mobility never came up. I’ll have to ask them.

Houdini was probably a 9. He could get out of a straight jacket, in a locked safe, underwater.

Has anyone here been in a straight jacket or know someone who has?

I hope you feel better. People were concerned about you very recently. Good luck to you.

I don't think it is good, that's hyperextension. I am trying to planche, it involves a lot of straight arm strength. I haven't seen a vid of someone snapping their elbows because of this, but there are vids of people's legs snapping back at them from the knees. One I saw was some average looking lady with a personal trainer doing heavy ass calf training on a leg press station. She hyperextended her knees and snap. It was gruesome, I didn't know that was going to happen and didn't want to see it. I can't hyperextend my knees or elbows and I consider that a PLUS. I can do 1 and I thought 2 and 4 was about wrist mobility which I am good at because.....horizontal hand balancing, but really other than 1, I don't agree with this test at all.

I can do 1 and I thought 2 and 4 was about wrist mobility which I am good at because.....horizontal hand balancing, but really other than 1, I don't agree with this test at all.
number 2 is your elbow bending backwards not your wrist

One is the easiest. My hands go way lower I can bend my elbows

Exactly, I was going to try the movements in the pictures until I read the text of what you're really trying to do... I saw no reason to even try to find out if I could do them.
