    Blind beginner

    31 y/o male - totally blind - between 290 - 300 lbs (And it's not muscle).

    - I want to get into body building again. Was into it briefly in high school and absolutely loved it. Finally have a garage and some $$. Want to build a small gym and start again.

    - I know I need to lose fat. But here's the thing, truth is i'm just not going to do a bunch of cardio, body weight resistance band fluff. I just won't. I don't like it. It's boring. I can't stand it.

    - Being blind I really, really only love the feel of iron in my hands. That grounds me. That gives me something to focus on. All I want to do is lift.

    - Maybe I'll do treadmill. That's not terrible.

Here's my question: What do I need to do nutritionally to start building muscle even though I'm overweight? For example, a lot of resources say 1 g protein per lb of body weight. I doubt they mean 300 grams of protein for me, right? So what do I do here?

My hope is really just by getting into lifting and maybe the treadmill I'll start gaining enough muscle and strength and focus on my diet that the fat will work its way off naturally over the next few years. I'm not looking to go crazy and lose 100 lbs in the next 12 months. I work a high-stress job with long hours, have two toddlers and a wife. I really just want to go into my garage 3 - 5 days a week, lift for the fun of it, and gain as much muscle as I can while I'm still in my 30s.

Thoughts on where I should start nutritionally? Also, has anyone else been fluffy like me and only lifted without doing a bunch of Richard Simmons tapes or something? Am I going to look super weird if I start building muscle and still have fat?
