    Bulk or cut?

Hi there. I think I have body dysmorphia (don't we all!) and want some honest, third-party opinions. Attached are pictures of my physique.

I used to be quite fat (~170 lbs at 5'4"), cut and was very skinny (~125 lbs), and have been training for the past few years. My current weight is ~140-145 lbs and I think I'm around 16% bf. I simultaneously think the following 3 contradictory things: (1) some of my muscles are quite small, (2) I wish I was a bit leaner, and (3) I know I'm strong. My current maxes are: 360 conventional dead, 300 high bar bb squat, 75 weighted pull-up, 245 bb wide grip bench, 180 bb ohp, 110 bb strict curl.

Let me know what you think, please.

I'd say bulk but that's just me. Yeah 16%ish bodyfat seems about right. But that's maybe because I've been bulking ever since I started lifting 8 months ago and am at 20%ish bodyfat, lol. How lean do you wanna be? 10-12% bodyfat? If you have body dysmorphia then yeah I know it can be hard going through with the bulk. Just do what's most comfortable with you.

I mean, after being fat my whole life, and trying to find a partner, leaner is more appealing to me. But, I want to be strong. I'm not sure if I'm stalling because I'm trying to stay too lean or I'm truly intermediate

Yeah that 10-13% bodyfat is most appealing to most people. You've been training for a few years so if you've been training correctly, you should be close to your natty limit.

Progress is decent but if you want more strength you should stay in a clean bulk for another 6 months-1 year and reassess your progress then. Maybe that'll be the perfect time to go on a slow cut.

You’re lean enough to be adding muscle
If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough

Firstly I would bulk you seem lean enough. Although secondly, I quoted this because I totally understand.
I have currently lost 25kg and I am doing another 12 week cut to try getting a little leaner as I'm not confident I'm in the right place bodyfat wise yet plus like you said staying lean is important to me. I've been fat a long time and last time I tried to bulk I really made a mess of it.

If it were me and since it is summer I'd spend 4 weeks losing five-ish pounds and spend the rest of the summer feeling more confident shirtless.

Then start looking at bulking at about the first of October.
