    Thumbs down chest expander item?!

    I am searching for - more as possible ! - chest exercises that don't involve triceps (as you know I can use triceps only in neutral position on my body sides);
    so I have remembered that I have got an abandoned item: the so-called "chest expander" (as anyone knows, it's nothing other than resistance bands with handles).
    So I have ran to watch a video about its usage: it seems that there is one exercise: simply take it and expand it preferably at the height of shoulders.
    (there would be other exercises but quietly useless as arm extension that I lovely hate; would be useful discussing about?).

    So I have many questions:
    don't the chest muscles do the opposite movement?
    how many chest muscles do exist?
    could be useful a minimal Rom?
    why a similar item is an holy fitness icon? and why nowadays doesn't anybody take care except weird web pages that even suggest it for martial arts (I imagine the defeat, literally HARD)?
    where can I find online resources of anatomy and bio-mechanics free of charge, even in English language? is a valid choice that linked by the infamous Wikipedia bibliography?
