    Trap pain while benching...

Anybody got any experience with pain in the trapezius muscle while benching? Could it be rotator cuff related?

Yes it could be rotator cuff, that whole area is rather complex and pain often emanates from somewhere near the true cause, not necessarily the exact problem muscle.

I had a pain in the area you describe, in my case it turned out that it was muscle knots causing spasms in the upper trap (probably from doing jerky exercises like cleans and power shrugs). The resolution was to do high rep overhead shrugs with moderate weight and the fullest possible ROM I could manage. Really focus on full elevating and depressing the scapulae. Not saying this will work for you but the general principle seems a good thing to try. If there is no quick fix, you should seek help from a sport physio.
