    Army ration food packs?

Would anyone consider eating these as a staple of one's diet?

They hold plenty of nutritional value and can be eaten hot or cold.

If they can give soldiers the energy to endure extreme training then I'm sure they will be fine for athletes and gym goers.

I bought some about 25 years ago and forgot about them. Found them in a storage building last summer, brought them home and ate a Salisbury steak and meatloaf. The rest are in my pantry now, and probably will be until I die. They taste horrible. I even tried some of my dog's dog treats a few weeks ago, Barkin Bacon. The dog treats tasted better than the Army ration packs. The dog treats still didn't taste very good, so that should give you an idea of how those other things tasted.

I don't see why not. First 3 ingredients are bacon, wheat and soy. 16% protein. A person and their dog can have some after doing dog lifts.

Honestly some are gross some aren’t. They are pretty pricey and the macros aren’t that great. If you like them, it’s totally fine, just through in some other stuff too and fresh veg. Also, check the expiration date, most are sold by a second party and it’s common for them to be out of date.

Mre’s I’ve had are pastas, veggie tacos, eggs and chili.
    Creamy pastas suck
    Cheese sucks
    Eggs suck

They are like 1200 calories of you eat all the snacks which are the best part

They do tend to have a lot of saturated fat like 30g and are high in fat around 40-60 grams of fat and 50-60 grams of protein and 160-180 carbs

MRE? No, I would not make that a staple. The idea behind MREs is to provide for caloric needs at the detriment of proper macro and micro nutrient inclusion. If we define "nutritional value" as providing proper amounts of micro nutrients and protein:fat:carb ratio then no, they do not hold "plenty of nutritional value." In a pinch? Sure. Backpacking/camping? Sure. Field exercises for a week? Sure. Otherwise, no.

I wouldn’t use MREs as a staple. Ask anyone that ate them for an extended period of time lol.

They’re good here and there though. I’ll take them out hunting or hiking or to work if I don’t have time to pack my lunch.

But every day. No thanks Jeff.

    They’re full of junk really.

And they're usually missing fiber. They're not meant for long term use. Put too many in, they're never coming out.

If you like constipation, eat them as often as you want. Otherwise there are cheaper and better options.

I had a renter die on me the day after Thanksgiving last year. His fridge was full of fast food hamburgers from a restaurant across the street where he died. Saw him laying on the ground outside and called an ambulance.

Was the restaurant across the street from the rental house? You'd think he'd just go get them when he wanted to eat them.

Or did he just happen to die randomly across the street from the restaurant?

You could throw a baseball from the front door and hit the restaurant, that's how close it was. He was from Florida and had some weird carrier for his cell phone. His co-workers told me that he couldn't get any cell signal from inside his house. Apparently he was laying on the ground outside and was trying to call 911, but couldn't get a signal. He probably would have died on the lawn if I hadn't called for an ambulance. Instead he died in a hospital. 10 days later a hospital bill for $18,000 was in the mailbox of where he stayed.

That sucks. I'm assuming you paid his hospital bill in hamburgers.

A few days later his widow in Florida called me wanting to know if there were some documents left behind in his place. His co-workers (also renting from me) cleaned out all his stuff and mailed it back to her. She needed the documents in order to get his body released from the morgue, but they were nowhere to be found.

When she sees the hospital bill, she’ll probably just tell them to keep him

Him and his work crew travel all across the country doing soil remediation (removing contaminated soil). It's no fun working on the road, and having to live out of a motel room. It's even worse when you travel with a spouse and a pet. 99% of the people that rent from me are traveling male workers with a wife/girlfriend back home, and a girlfriend here in this town. Dead serious.

Must have been pure coincidence that a guy who removes contaminated soil for a living would suddenly die unexpectedly. Pure coincidence. This message sponsored by Mansanto

Week to week. They get a per diem every Monday for about $700 for a motel room and food. I charge $400 a week for a 2 bedroom place. $600 for a 3 bedroom. $800 for a 4 bedroom. My biggest house is 3 story with 4 full or 3/4 baths. 8 beds, $1600 a week. Full kitchens, washer/dryer, everything.
