    My body transformation journey

    Hi all

Hi all I am a 43 year old dad of 5. In January 2020 I suffered a pulmonary embolism. Basically blood clots on both my lungs....I nearly died. I quickly realised I was not in the best of shape and as we just entered our first lock down in the UK I wanted to change my body and my bad eating habits.
I worked with a PT who put me in a calorie deficit and I’ve been In a deficit since 1st July 2020 and still in one now. Hopefully I will start to build soon but still have more fat to get off yet. I started my journey 95.5kg and now I’m 73.3kg. I’ve lost 7.5 inches off my waste. My training is weights which I had never done before and I do a full body workout 3 times a week. Loving the barbell back squat....currently my working set is 110kg. Here is the first pic I did back in July and my most recent one this week. It’s been 9 months and I’m very pleased but really want to get my body looking as good as it can.

How do I upload and attach photos?

Congrats on the weight loss. Unfortunately it takes some pretty serious issues to get people motivated to make lifestyle changes. Most important thing is you made it after a near death experience and you are still here do something about it.

The best thing is when you start seeing results, like you have, it motivates you to do more. I'm sure after what you went through it just adds more fuel to the fire.

As far as posting pics, hit Reply, then click Go Advanced below the text box and after scrolling down a little you should see a section to manage attachments.

Thanks for your response. You are right it’s when u see the results from your hard work that you really start to get motivated. My PT says that my transformation is the best he has had.

I still cannot see how to add a photo to this thread. Can’t see a “go advanced” or “manage attachments” maybe someone can help. Here is a link to my profile picture that shows a before and now photo 9 months on.

Ahhhh change that I’ve just had a notification to say that to add images I need over 50 posts. So I’ll keep posting. But check out my profile pic to see my change

My main strategy for this has been. Calories set at 2300 per day but currently as there is not far to go with cutting its 2000. Protein target was 175 when I was at 2300 calories but now at 2000 it’s 150g per day. I do an all round weight lifting training programme 3 times a week which focuses on the main compound exercises, I had to invest in a set up for home. I bought a rack, barbell, and pull up bar. I’ve added weights and a bench too. Hopefully won’t need a gym.
I do 12000 steps a day aswell. Done this for 9 months. I have a goal to get big and lean or at least as much as I genetically can. Currently I’ve lost 50 pounds with still fat to get off then it’s building time.

So today is my weekly check in on stats. So I have achieved this in the last week.

Weight. 73.9 kilos down to 73.4 (half kilo lost)
Waist no change at 32.2 inches
Hips slight increase from 36.9 to 37 inches my hips do that up then down over time but they go down as a trend.

    Would anyone measure anything else?

You're doing great! Keep at it!
For now I don't think you need to measure anything else - but that's entirely subjective. What do you want to see change?
    Good work!
    Why NOT?

Good question. What I would like to see change is my fat around the bottom of my stomach but I am measuring that. I’d like my chest to get bigger but currently I’m cutting not bulking so not sure it will just yet. I was just interested to see what others measure when cutting really or any advice. It’s the first time I have ever done this or lifted weights.

I've barely even measured my waist.
I joined the club (old guys/gals getting healthy) 6 months ago and did a baseline bod pod for body fat estimate and recently did my first follow up (which went very well).
I can also measure change in the mirror, in my clothes getting looser, and in the heavier weight I can lift.
But, sure, you can measure anything you want! Agree that you probably want to measure chest/biceps stuff later once you've been bulking for a bit.
    Why NOT?

Good work man, May you stay healthy from here to your end of days! and use your body as well as you can as was intended.

One of the best ways for uploading photos is just to open an imgur account for free and save them there...

You can then post them in your posts here as they will provide you a link on the right side of all your pictures... typically you will use the BBCode.

    here:

    KINKY!

the text of the code looks like this: [ img]https://i.imgur.com/PYQXSHn.jpg[/img ] accept for the spaces at the front and end.

I've not used a measuring tape in years, I only use two things a scale and the mirrors at the gym...that way I'm always pleasantly surprised when I need to go buy clothes. lol.

    Hope that helps man.
Pssst, Hey Buddy, your back is not that big, and your arms don't normally hang that way.
