12 TB HDD vs 2 TB SSD

These are both the same price right now. The 12tb is of course a white label drive and I was wondering if there is anyway to validate the integrity of the drive. The 2tb option is the SAMSUNG evo so you know its going to be decent at least. This would be for long term storage. What would you get if you had the choice?

If you plan mostly on storage the 12TB HHD hands down but if you plan on gaming a lot the SSD is the better choice

White label drives are mainly what I use in my NAS. They do fine and last a long time.

Depends on what you're doing really, if it's just backing up a lot of data the HDD should be fine. If you plan on using the drive for anything like a secondary drive you might want the SSD.

12TB if you download a lot of p0rn

otherwise why would you need the space?

love the speed of an SSD - m.2

however, i have 2x 5TB HDDs plugged into my media streamer for movies (and p0rn)

    Neither.

Exos drives go on sale on Amazon regularly. I just got (6) 10tb for $179 per and they are incredibly fast for HDDs

Video editing and solid modeling. I'd definitely get a red or enterprise disk if you can, the warranty and service for data recovery are well worth it IMO.
