    Thoughts on full body workouts?

I've been dabbling in full body workouts for the past few weeks now and I am wondering if the best option for such workouts is in a circuit format or as a more run of the mill format with rests. Any thoughts?

It'd help for comparison to post the specific dabble rather than general babble, as well your goals.

Everyone from rank novice to wr holding powerlifter, Olympic lifters, golden area olympia bodybuilders, natural strongmen and crossfitters use full body training frameworks.

We need more info. But it's hard to go wrong with a standard setup

I agree with the above 'dabbling"your training will not show the true effectiveness of your training protocol.
You need to commit to a protocol, document your training(training journal),and come to a conclusion after a period of time say four months.
Basically your experimenting with yourself and exploring what works and doesn't wrk for your goals.
If your interested in full body workouts check out Stuart McRoberts book called"Brawn".
It's oriented towards minimal training protocols.

I used them briefly at first, but I never liked training splits much, personally. Less volume, less flexible schedule, less frequency, too easy to develop/worsen imbalances because something comes up one day and you don't finish the other part of the split. It takes a lil longer but I like full body, body works and recovers as a unit, seems like I always made more progress with that style. Back in the old days, you'd see a lot of people using and swearing by them.

They can work great, especially for novices. For me however, I’d find it too exhausting. It’d take me like 2 hours a session

This. Great to start with. As you get more experienced I'd switch to something else.

A good progression of training splits from beginner to more advanced is....

    - 3 day a week full body

    - Upper/lower 4x week

    - Upper lower off push pull legs off (gym 5x week)

    - Then stay with that or move onto push pull legs off repeat and take 2 days off when needed

or a body part split where you break up your training into different days - different muscle groups being trained

Like someone else said, don't dabble it, go all in with it and try for at least 4-6 weeks.

It'll work for just about anyone with any strength, physique, or general fitness goals who is a beginner.

RIP to the first black man on the cover a magazine.

That is what I love about bodybuilding. For the most part, it has been colorblind. All that matters is the physique.

I love Leroy Colbert! Used his routine for awhile and it was as tough as it was beneficial. Only thing I didn't like about it was there was nothing for hamstrings, glutes, forearms, or abs. Great volume though.
