Peak engineering
Sony Corp. is preparing to open up its PlayStation 5 for internal storage upgrades this summer, lifting a bottleneck that prevents gamers from having more than a few marquee games on their console at one time, people briefed on the plan said.
Adding support for additional drives will be enabled with a firmware update that also unlocks higher cooling-fan speeds to ensure the console doesn’t overheat, the people said, asking not to be named because the plans are not yet public. The PlayStation 5 comes with a custom solid-state drive with around 667GB available for storing games, apps and media -- at a time when the latest Call of Duty game needs 133GB of installation space and most major titles take up at least 40GB each.
Of course none of this confirmed so take with a grain of salt.
Apparently there's no vents in the expansion slot lel .... maybe misc scientists can weigh in on this.

I touched on this a year ago about HDD and SSD. And I was right.
SSD = no storage space, shorter cycle time, expensive.
The face of poorly made games is showing itself because of its reliance on pure horsepower and not skills.

Sony fukking up real hard in this generation. Not sure if this was ever brought up, but some consoles came with different/weaker fans entirely, which makes them louder. Now slap this onto it and we're back to the PS4 jet engine all over again for some people. Like the press was given one model which was better, and during the tear down you saw all this cool tech. Then there's the possiblity you went and bought one, and it wasn't of the same quality as the one you saw.
My Series X could not be able quieter srs. I've left it on for hours and never even realized it was on, even sitting like 5 feet away from it. Just feel like Microsoft is going to start turning the corner this year and start to blast Sony off the market.*Mechanical Engineering Crew*

Already have a series x and was planning on getting a ps5 in March. Gonna hold off to see how all this progresses. Sony really is chitting themselves this gen.
Not even interested in any new games right now. Downloaded Skyrim SE on GamesPass (never played Skyrim before) and with all the mods the game runs beautifully at 60fps on the series x. See myself just playing this for the next couple months.
Hopefully Sony can get their chit together.

Just realized that there are no copper pipes/heat sinks/openings for the NVME to cool down
This is peak engineering right here....-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Enjoying reading through all the Xbox cope replies, lmao, Bongo does it again with another grade A troll thread
You get used to it quick. I have gone back and forth between symmetrical and asymmetrical sticks many times now. It feels odd at firat then you get used to it. I really can't say one is better than the other besides what you are used to.
I like your thinking. I didn't get a CD player until the iPod came out. It's a great strategy, definitely not missing out in the short lives we have.

It's actually purpose driven, your ps5 can double as an air fryer. Engineering greatness.
Yes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is DOOM defiant.

Yeah I have been holding off on launch consoles as my One X is still good enough for me right now, but if I were to buy a new console at this point that would be undoubtedly the Series X, it's just by far the better launch console. The PS5 seems like it could maybe get good eventually when they release a revised/pro model, but these launch consoles are just very disappointing. This is looking like the PS3 all over again.

I have 20 or so games in my Steam library I've not touched and probably 5-6 PS4 games I haven't played yet. Nothing really compelling me to fight scalpers for a PS5 currently. If I need to hold a vibrating dildo in my hands I can do that for less than $800.
I doubt any regrets I have on my death bed are going to be video game related.
