    Getting enough protein

Rookie question. Just doing the math and it seems getting enough protein per day is ridiculously expensive. Chicken turned out the cheapest but is still almost $90 a month/$3 a day. How do you all getting your protein needs met without breaking the bank?

Getting your protein in for $3 a day is as good as you're going to get imo. Can't really imagine how you'd cut that cost, barring some extreme coupon-shopping.

    I mean... cost is relative...

I spend like $500-600 bucks a month on food, so... $3 for protein a day is nothing.

Protein Powder and vegetarian protein options are generally cheaper than Chicken (here in Canada anyway)

$3/day for all the protein you need sounds like a bargain. Lemme know the secrets... you buying the necks? gizzards?

Safeway chicken breast is like $2-3 / lb, which comes out to pretty much my daily protein intake. Of course, getting 100% of protein from chicken breast would get a little boring.

I kinda gave up on chicken breast a while ago, usually just do thighs, drumsticks, or wings if I make it now.

Every now and then my local grocery store has chicken leg quarters for 49 cents a pound in 10 pound bags. I put them all in my smoker and have enough food for 4 days. I've also got a lot of these critters in my yard. Cost = Free. I've got an electric meat grinder.

$3/day for the most expensive macro and that's meant to be a complaint?

3 dollars a day for protein... Man, I spend 20-30.

If you find meets expensive, why don`t you switch to eggs and beans,, they have a great amount of protein which could cover your daily need.
BTW good quality fat and carbs are just as expensive as protein...

You only need 0.7 gram protein per lb. Lentils, eggs, peanuts can be very cheap.

Its actually not an issue, and $90 a month fir an essential macro isn’t expensive at all. I probably spend double that at Starbucks on coffee drinks.

I find canned tuna and salmon cheaper than chicken for protein. There's milk too.

Also, our day is going to obviously include fats and carbs too so there's cheap foods that provide both carbs and protein like chickpeas/lentils and cheap foods that provide both fats and protein like eggs. I can't imagine eating nothing but chicken for my protein source.

I wouldn`t relay on Canned Tuna as a main source of protein since they contain a High level of mercury.
