Weird problems after releasing Psoas muscle

I've had a nagging groin pain going on for the last couple months... I mostly feel it if I do a 'low lunge' stretch, kinda like a pulling / tugging feeling.

I eventually realised I needed to loosen something up, so tried some self-release high up in my groin... sorta towards the bottom end of the psoas / iliacus muscles. I did it with a tennis ball aswell as digging my fingers in.

This helps a lot with the groin pain I've been getting, but it creates new problems.

Mainly this bizarre 'sensitive' feeling I get in my pubic region, and also been getting digestive problems. It's only recently occurred to me that this happens after I've been trying to release my Psoas (I think).

So I did some research and apparently you have to be very careful releasing that region as there is a lot of sensitive stuff around there.

Has anyone else had this? is it even possible to release these muscles safely?
