Whats the best bargain, non ceo10k a day Porsche?

Under 40k, used... what would be the best bargain Porsche to get the Porsche experience? No Panamera. Want 911'ish styling and would be a weekend driver. I have no knowledge of Porsche model naming structure.

The only 911 I can think off that would fit your budget is a 2006-2007 911 Carrera.

I think they look really good, it's right after the ugly ass 911 996 abomination

911 Carrera is what you're looking for if you aren't willing to get a Cayman. The Carrera is the entry level 911.

I don't know why you hate Caymans, the new ones are beautiful and excellent drivers cars. Honestly wait abit and you'll be able to get a 718 cayman for under 40k.

40k? Easy. 981 Cayman S... Although values on all used cars have gone up.. You used to be able to find 981 S all day for those prices... It's a quick little nimble car with good handling.. You'd surprise a lot of C6 owners.

718 Caymans are pure phaggotry. 981 is the winner, the flat 6 dominates the crappy 2.0 4 cylinder. Completely different experience, infinitely more enjoyable.

Sales suffered greatly with the 718 and Porsche is aware of this which is why they brought back the flat 6 in 4.0 tradition seen in the newer GTS trims.

PS OP, they may seem like chick cars but even a boxster S is wicked to drive... Think scalpel precision handling. It's like nothing else.

Cayman is mid engine, Carrera is rear. Both are fantastic cars. The carrera will probably hold its value a little better. Test drive both.

I would just get a used Boxster, it's the best cheap Porsche that offers a real Porsche experience. The Cayenne's can get really cheap these days but that's only good if you want a big SUV, for their sports cars it's pretty hard to beat a Boxster. If you want the fixed hardtop just get a Cayman, but be sure to buy the flat-6 version of these, if you're getting used ones no point in having that flatulent flat-4.

Yeah I'm sure they boost up the sticker price for "porsche certified pre-owned" by several thousand.

Thing felt brand new. But yeah at the price level, not much more will get one new.

Realistic range is $35 -40k when I do get one. Almost as thrilling as a motorcycle, wayyyyy safer.

Yeah the nice thing is that you can bury the pedal for more than 5-10 seconds without landing yourself in jail... All the while getting to hear the motor go through the RPMS in a car that's probably the most tossable thing you can buy.

It's mostly due to inflation and chit like that that but I was looking at a 2.7 (non CPO) a couple years ago and it was going for 28k.. A little higher on the mileage and not a crazy build, but it was still a good car and they're largely reliable... That's the one thing about Porsche's that low key nobody knows about. They're more bulletproof and reliable than your typical Honda. No doubt.

One more vote for a 981 (2013 - 2016 Boxster/Cayman). I promise you won't regret it. Fantastic cars and the epitome of the Porsche experience, daily drivable, smooth, solid power delivery, great sound, great braking, and insane handling.

After 2016 Porsche changed the car to the 718 which is the same platform but swapped the beautiful boxer 6 engines to turbo charged flat 4s that a lot of people consider a downgrade despite the better numbers.

Never thought I would see the words, bargain and Porsche, in the same sentence.

This should give you hope that someday, someone might say "tunafishha" and "good poster" in the same sentence.

No doubt.
    Good stuff.

I was hearing some stuff about oil changes being VERY pricey in mid-engine cars. $300-500 because you can't just access it like a regular front engine car.

I'm sure any work on the Tranny, brakes, larger tires, computer systems, etc. is hyper expensive vs. Japan cars.

    Gotta pay to play though...

You'd be surprised. Oil changes are a breeze, especially on 911's. Nothing out of the ordinary really, go buy a filter from Porsche or online and buy your oil at wal mart. PDK's are bulletproof although IF it were to need replace I'm sure that's expensive. At that point you trade in or sell it to carmax lol.Tires you can get cheap, same with brakes.

    There are several examples of problem free 100K+ mile (997, 991) 911 Turbo's along with the (987, 981) Caymans/Boxsters.

A lot of that stuff is 'relative'.
Is 911 Carrera S oil change more expensive compared to 05 camry? yes. some of that is because of porsche tax, and some is because they require a little more expensive oil.

Never really saw the appeal of porsches- other than the 918 they arent really head turners but obviously theres a following. They make a great vehicle hands down, it's just the aesthetics that I dont love.

What you really want is a '02 911turbo. Classic porsche and lower than your budget.

With the exception of few models, Porsches were never head turners. That's not what they're built for. They're performance cars and their following is almost cult-like.

An 02 911 turbo will cost you as much as a 2015+ carrera S nowadays. Yes it's faster, but it will have headaches that come with owning a 20yr old car.
