Question Bulk / Cut with an Eating Disorder?

Because of my fear of gaining weight, I want to ask what the shortest possible a bulk/cut cycle could be. I have been in a caloric surplus of 1000 for a week now, gone from 43.9 kg to 46.4 kg (unsure how much is real weight). 46 - 47 kg is the minimum healthy weight for my height.

Would a 2 week bulk + a 2 week cut work at all? A 3 week bulk & cut? I have read a lot of things about people saying it wouldn't be long enough for your body to adjust to start gaining muscle in the bulk or lose fat in the cut, but I have an awful fear of becoming "too fat" even if for just a little while (which is a real problem, and I'm trying hard to beat this). Any answers greatly appreciated!

It takes a long time to gain appreciable muscle mass, months; if you go for just a few weeks at a time you will accomplish nothing.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Coming from a former anorexic who has self-recovered and gained 100lbs + over the past 10 years, my advice is to go into a 5-10% calorie surplus for 12 weeks, followed by a mini-cut for 5 or so weeks, then a return to roughly maintenance for a couple weeks and then back into a slow gaining phase for 12 weeks.

It's not very efficacious to be in a surplus for 2 weeks and then deficit for another 2 weeks, rinse and repeat... Trust me, speaking from first hand experience with an eating disorder and my successes and failures over the years (not to mention my 7 years working as a coach and registered sports nutritionist) I can say without a doubt that the best approach is to go 12 weeks give or take 2 weeks (10-14 weeks) of gaining and then a mini cut of 4-6 weeks, rinse and repeat.

The mini cuts should be short and aggressive with the main purpose of improving insulin sensitivity, making you more responsive to the kcal surplus when you return to the gaining phase so that you grow better/have slightly better nutrient partitioning

and the gaining phases should be much longer and slower.... a 5-10% kcal surplus per day (e.g. say 3,000kcal/day is your maintenance you'd want to consume 3150-3300kcal/d) will be sufficient to grow.

I had the same fear as you when I first started recovering mate... I can assure you that over time it does and will go away... the timeframe is different for everyone though.

I am always happy to help more mate and even though I'm a coach, I would never expect you to pay for just more advice... so feel free to email me at: info (at) universal-performance (dot) com

I wish you all the best man and hope you can achieve what you want to achieve.
