    Seated vs laying leg curls

Is there much of a difference between the two? I’m trying to figure out which one I should do, and since I train legs twice a week would it be a good idea to do laying leg curls on my first leg day and seated on the second?

I prefer lying, as I intentionally flex my butt to involve the glutes somewhat. Gives me the same stimulus as stability ball leg curls. Although my wife flexes her butt on seated leg curls and leans back and gets basically the same effect.

Pick whatever one you like the best, although it might not be necessary to them on both lower days.

Lying leg curl is more about mind muscle connection and contraction while seated leg curl is more about pump and endurance. When you're seated your larger hamstrings are stretched and trying to straighten out your hip but instead adding leverage to the curling function of the leg while you're fixed in the seat.

If you’re training legs twice a week you’re most likely having a quad focused day and a ham focused day. I’d do seated on the quad focused day.

And on the Ham one. I would do both

There is a recent study that shows 16% or 18% more Hypertrophy from seated vs lying. But who cares really about 1 study.

Do which you prefer, use which machine* is best quality and feels best to YOU and your leverages.

I prefer GHR and seated BAND hamstring curls

I can't stand seated curls. Idk exactly what it is, it just feels weird. Kind of on that note, I'd do whichever one you prefer. I'd assume there's some difference in muscle activation or whatever based on the angle, but I can't imagine it being very significant.

As indicated above, the hamstrings will be under a greater stretch if seated than lying so seated may be preferable, but also indicated above I do not expect this to make a huge difference and if one feels better that may be better.
