    Amino Spiked Whey Protein?

So I recently had been reading articles and reviews trying to find a cheaper protein powder to use. I like to make protein pancakes, mix it with yogurt, etc. along with supplementing the obvious way. Upon reading some of the past ones I used, I came to find out brands like Body Fortress (which I've recommended before to people) have been in trouble in the past for amino spiking and I noticed a few other companies as well. Labels could list them having as much as 30+ grams of protein but end up actually maybe having like 10-15 REAL grams? Before I make my next purchase, I was wondering if people had some suggestions for quality Whey and what brands I should watch out for?

Or is this not very common anymore?

It's impossible to know 100% without and individual analysis in the past PES had some test result published showing it was good, Nutrabio is pretty transparent about their products and any company that sources from Glanbia is probably good as well.

I wouldn't buy from companies who did that in the past, such as muscle tech, who have proven they will lie and cheat you.

Probably the longest running good to go is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey. That stuff has been on the "safe to recommend" list for a long damn time and they don't jerk you around with that kind of crap. Same for Universal/Animal. I'd feel good about BSN/Syntha-6 as well, myself. bb.com signature. Dymatize. PES.

Just like with any other industry.... you pay for what you get. You can't expect premium products from lower end products. Example don't expect a Ferrari performance for the price of a Honda Civic. Things cost what they do for a reason.

Stick with quality, reputable, brands. There's a handful of brands out there that even post the amino acid breakdowns on their tubs. MAN and Nutrabio are two companies that do this that I've used.

Thanks guys. I did pick up some kind of Hydro Whey from ON that was strangely clearance at Walmart. I appreciate you guys taking the time to respond. I feel a little more confident now about what company to grab from in the future.

In the future opt for a blend or an whey isolate over a hydro product, but a deal is a deal.

Will do. Been really looking at a few isolates. Seems to be the more better option for me with good amount of protein and less calories.

That they do, that is their only knock, their flavoring is a decade behind at this point and that's being generous

Extreme Milk Chocolate is the top 'safe pick' generally. It's pretty good especially in milk, even skim milk.

The vanilla ON whey in warm water fountain water half ass mixed at an airport is probably the worst protein supplement experience I've had

I also liked strawberry-banana, if that is a decent sounding flavor to you give it a shot. I think banana was good also. Straight strawberry was not IMO. Cookies and cream may be good but it's been awhile since I"ve had these at this point

Yeah. I've been reading reviews like that. Seems like it use to be better but there must have been a change in formula or something. Haha.

I'm sometimes not too picky on flavor unless I'm mixing it with my yogurt or using it to make protein pancakes and stuff.

Back in the day the big two I recall were Optimum Whey or Muscle Milk. The Muscle Milk tasted great but had less protein and more calories and cost more per serving. The ON was the best profile but flavor was 'okay'. Then other companies really upped their flavorings and ON changed nothing.

Of course, some of those other companies were straight lying as well as intentionally misleading, deceiving, and spiking...which Optimum did and does not

Well I'm glad I came upon that article and video about the amino spiking then. I was like hell yeah to Body Fortress. 30+ grams of protein and barely anything else but I seen know that its most likely got fillers to make it "30+ grams". Think I might just go to ON and stick with it. Pay the little extra and know what I'm getting.

Just don't use protein. It's really not important. Been in this game a long time and I assure you, protein IS NOT as important as every one thinks. In fact, high protein diets cause the gene known to age you faster to express in humans, meaning if you eat a lot of protein for long periods, you die quicker.

I SOMETIMES have a scoop of plant protein after workouts, but I RARELY eat more than 6oz of chicken in any meal, and never eat any other kind of meat. My morning smoothie has a good amount of different seeds, but all together on any day I don't think I eat more than 75 grams of protein, and I doubt that I EVER go over 100 grams.

Guess what, I'm still 235lbs. In fact, I was 230lbs about 2 months ago. Considering I'm 6'1" and ~9%bf, I'd say that stopping worrying about protein was one of the most freeing things I've ever done.

BUT, if you really can't give it up, just use plain, unflavored BCAAs. This is THE BEST way to get in what you need, as it doesn't have carcinogenic flavors and artificial sweeteners that will do more harm than good. Of course, it will taste like ass.. so the best way to get it in is to blate pape it.

    Here's a video of how to use them: blatepapes . c o m /how-to-use/how-to-vid

Literally the best thing I ever did.. and I don't say that lightly.

I do that with all of my supplements. I just buy bulk powders, mix them in a blender to make my own DIY products, and blate pape them. This is the cheapest and the healthiest way to do all supplements, at least that I've found.

So much BS, I don't know where to start....Stay "healthy" and red brah.

This is a good, informative thread.

I've heard of amino spiking and knew what it was but, I'll be honest, never really gave it a thought.

I'll stick with ON, BB.com, Dymatize and PES (thx for those recommendations Farley)

I can't believe that I got negged here for my honest-to-god post.

I'd like to know, what about what I said is "so much BS..?

Please, I would really love to talk about this, in fact, if you don't think what I said has any weight to it at all, then please post a reply to this.

To whomever disagrees, I'd be more than happy to prove all of my stats, right now, with body pics.

Then, we can compare.. if you'd like to actually see who knows what they're talking about.

Or you can neg me, make jokes and chuckle with your buds. I can tell you now that I don't sit building rep on forums because it's not important to me. What IS important is that I actually get out there and do what others talk about doing on here.
It's interesting that when I share my actual experience here, people laugh and think they know better. Why not actually ask some serious questions to see if it has any weight? I lied about nothing.

People on here must be addicted to supplements that much..? They don't matter

    Ask me, or keep laughing?

Thank you. Someone who actually walks the walk speaks the truth. That's because it doesn't take a second thought.

It just not a big deal. People go pushing supplements all day long meanwhile they have no actual achievements to show for everything they THINK they know.

It's just that eating less than 100g of protein and being a shredded 230lbs is hard to obtain naturally

As we've told you before. Your N=1 anecdotal evidence isn't isn't proof of anything, no one is questioning that your height or weight or body fat percentage. And no, you don't really want to talk about it. The last time you posted BS, I broke it down for you and *poof* you disappeared, no response. Shocker.

If you're all about doing what others talk about on this site, you're doing it wrong. No one is talking about **** stacks of supplements and they surely are not attributing nearly as much success to them as you have done. I don't think you're purposely lying. I don't think you know what you're talking about and your N=1, placebo, no data tracking experiment isn't proof of anything.

Sure, I'll play, let's list out the BS:
    1) "high protein diets cause the gene known to age you faster to express in humans, meaning if you eat a lot of protein for long periods, you die quicker."
    2) Your protein intake is likely off. 6oz of chicken breast has around 55g of protein. That plus your magic shakes with scoops of whatever type of powdered food you want to use exceed the 75g you "think" you take in daily. It's far more likely that your estimation skills are off.
    3) Then you come in with BCAAs, 3 amino acids, that have the same amount of calories as 3 grams of protein which has a full spectrum of amino acids. It doesn't have what you need. Your body needs a full spectrum of amino acids, not just 3.
    4) Carcinogen....lol
    5) If you don't want "carcinogen" (eg. flavoring or *gasp* those evil artificial sweeteners) just buy unflavored whey or whatever powdered food you want. In the context of a high protein diet of varied sources, protein is protein for the most part.
    6) You keep going on about how buying bulk powdered supplements is "healthier" than using other supplements. It's a ridiculous notion. I already explained this to you once and you ignored the posts because you made BS statements there too, especially regarding placebo. Plus your supplement regimen is underdosed. Welcome to Placebo Town, population you. Btw, "healthy" is a subjective and BS term than can mean anything, thus it means nothing. Chemical X is Chemical X regardless of whether it's in a pill, powder or whole food.

Most people on here are not addicted to supplements and most acknowledge that supplements make up 5% or less of overall success. Most take less crap than you do and they certainly don't attribute as much to them as you've done in previous posts.

There is nothing to ask you. Success despite ignorance is common and you've clearly done so. Cool for you, but it doesn't mean you know what you're talking about.

The irony of you talking about people that think they know. I wasn't laughing at you before, but now I'm laughing.

    Edit:

Only time I ever seen anyone actually say protein was bad for you was that Zac Efron documentary on Netflix and it was from the dude trying to sell you his overpriced Shakeology (Which I think might be Vegen based? Can't remember) ...

The whole point of this post was just to try and find out the better protein for my buck.. I wasn't asking to a better alternative to protein. If you think Protein is going to kill you or age you quicker... don't take it. I'm going to use it because I've seen people with many decades of experience and knowledge recommending it... not some no name joe I just met.

Thank you Lucia and the other fellows for showing up and doing what I was asking for; WHAT IS A GOOD QUALITY WHEY.
