    Will going from 17% body fat to 12% body fat change my face?

    Part of the motivation for losing body fat for me is to reduce the fat carried in my face/cheeks. I want to have a leaner face. I have started a cut from 17% body fat (perhaps a little more, in the 17-18% body fat region, as measured by the Navy Seal Method).

    My target is 12%, and I have worked out how to get there in about 70-80 days. I was wondering whether this weight loss would produce a noticeable effect on my face, or whether the face only really changes from 12% down to 8%.

    Bonus question if you like: I was considering 10% as a longer-term target, but would you agree that 12% is not only more sustainable but perhaps healthier from a hormonal perspective? Another factor I'm interested in is maximizing my free testosterone levels.

    Short answer, yes. I have pics at 190+ and pics at 170 ripped. Very different.

    Definitely, you will notice a change in your face 100%

    A healthy and optimal body fat percentage is around 10-12 percent at the low end. Anything under 10% gets hard to maintain

    Yeah mine looks much thinner, one of the first places I lose fat.

    Thanks for sharing. Since you're female it's a bit tricky to make comparisons but I wondered what your starting and ending points were, in terms of est. bf%? You looked like you were in good shape from the start.

    What I'm getting at is, I imagine going from 15% to 10% as a man, will have a far more drastic effect on the face than going from 17% to 12%, but I could be wrong.

    OK that changes everything, that would be like going from 11-12% as a man, to 6% or something. My question is rather specific to middle-ground bf% to leanish bf%, not from lean bf% to ripped (which is what you must have been at 13%).

    Based upon recent personal experience, going from an actual 17% to 12% (and not "my electronic scale tells me I've gone from 17% to 12%") will likely mean that (depending upon your age) your jawline and cheeks will become sharper and more defined, eyes may look a bit more "hollow" and any fine lines and wrinkles you may have could become a bit more pronounced (but not dramatically so).
