How long do your diets usually run for?

Hey guys, so how long are you usually running your diets for? I know there are many techniques to creating a deficit and different techniques can be effective for different people. How long is too long to run a deficit? And what do you consider a normal diet cycle? Thanks and happy training

    whats a diet

A diet is short termism. You should be thinking of it as a change in nutritional habits going forward.

    I used to "Diet".

That was a terrible mistake because what I needed to do was relearn basically everything about what and how I was eating and make permanent changes to those habits if I wanted to get leaner and stay that way for the rest of my life.

Now, I run moderate "calorie deficits" of the same foods that I would normally eat until I hit my weight/fat loss goals.
~ Like Tae-Kwon-Leap, my goals are not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon.

8 weeks diet, 2 weeks off.

I intermittent fast 16:8, my 2 weeks off I usually do the same as I have adapted but I up my calorie intake by 300-400 a day.

Assuming you mean dieting to cut the fat off.. Usually 4-5 months since I let loose a little more for the other half of the year most of the time. 500-600 calorie deficit. Maintenance days when I feel like I need them and a cheat meal every 6-8 weeks or so. Any longer than 6 months I'd probably lose my mind lol

There is no reason why short diets won't work. You will still lose weight at the same rate - just less of it because it's a shorter time period. (and it can be harder to measure)

The key is not to overcompensate at the end and eat over maintenance. If you eat at true maintenance, you are effectively still dieting while glycogen is being replenished.

I used to think of them as diets but its now a lifestyle change. It is scheduled to last about 10-12 months. I started on AUG 28th 2020. My target is to lose 8 stone. So far I have lost 2 stone 3 pounds. It is a long gruelling journey but one which will be worth it. I started off calorie restricting until I changed tactics. Right now It doesn't feel like a 'diet' just a different relationship with food now.

I have a serious amount of body fat and to shed it would be a dream. I've had viseral fat on my stomach my entire life. Praying that it comes off or reduces.

Yeah I got stuck 4kg in and I almost quit but I re fed my body for a few days and got passed upon fasting again. I just looked at my lower belly fat and put a solid dint in the “pooch” area so I thought that was like impossible. Feeling pretty radical now. Keep going happy training.

I eat anything I didn't have to buy so I know when I get food, it was earned.. there's times where a few days pass and all I had was water, but most people feed me without my permission
