Hey guys soo I’m more than 6 weeks in my cut and had a goal of reaching 78-79 kgs.. my height is 6,1 and weight is 82 kgs as of today I feel like I don’t have enough muscle to support a cut and should go for a lean bulk or should I keep chasing my target weight drop down to around 10-11% and start lean bulking from there would love some inputs and advice... I just uploaded new pictures today in my bodyspace...

The idea that you have "too little muscle to cut" is basically saying that you won't reach a happy endpoint just by cutting. It doesn't mean that you can't lose fat - just that you will still have the work to gain muscle to do when you've finished cutting.
Generally speaking, if you aren't taking your top off, you look better in clothes if you don't get too skinny and prioritise muscle gain over fat loss. At some point you have to do both regardless...

No offence but I kinda disagree with the estimate someone in the fat loss thread gave me an estimate of around 14-15% which seems more likely to me but tbh lighting can make a huge difference... but if I was 20% I wouldn’t have the 3 abs I have now plus the vascularity makes me think I’m a bit lower than your estimate anyways thank you so much for your input

I don't understand that too well. If your aim is to gain muscles, what's the point of cutting to 10% or so? If you have some fat now, it's best to train hard and convert them into muscles. If you think you don't have enough muscles to cut, then what purpose would it serve reducing and gaining again? You should have actually started bulk cutting 6 weeks back with intense weights, optimum cardio, and a goal specific diet.

The only reason I wanna cut down to a lower body fat percentage is because when I’m lean bulking is not always muscle gains there is fat gain as well and being at 14% if I gain muscle and around 5% of fat I’m gonna be around 19% and mentally and physically it is better for me if I’m around 15%... that’s the only reason I was thinking of cutting down a bit more to
1- not have a long cut in the future
2- to be in a better physical and mental state
3- and being lean it’s easier for my body to gain muscle and gain strength

LOL... yeah... let's IGNORE his belly fat... WHAT??
You literally just said, 'no no... he's 15% because you have to subtract the fat ON HIS STOMACH'???
Guess what then, i'm 0% bodyfat because you have to ignore the bodyfat on my ass, my legs, my stomach, around my organs... it's just all this fat tricking you into thinking I'm not 0%... but really I am.
Ignore Luclin999
Hes flatout wrong.
For most people, at 15%, you'll have basically ALL 6 prominent ab muscles visible
10%, and you'll ALWAYS have a 6-pack, likely with deep separation and some veins in your lower abs, etc.
20%, you can BARELY see abs at all...
Tell me, OP, can you see ALL your abs? Because I can't see them.
And ALSO... I said "CLOSE TO 20%"... that could be 18%... 19%... etcLast edited by AdamWW; 10-12-2020 at 11:35 AM.

Being at 15% does not guarantee a 6 pack first of all and u usually get a 6 pack at around 12% body fat... other than this people store fat in different areas of the body for me it’s predominantly my stomach if you see a picture of my back on my body space u will see how lean it is compared to my stomach as well as my arms I can see striations in my deltoids... 20% seems too high of an estimate... if you don’t agree with me I’ll link you to a video which explains correctly different body fat percentages... Acc to that video I fall in the 13-15% range... I cannot link the video because of less posts but if you search vitruvian physique body fat the first video that pops up will give you my point of view

incorrect on every level... but believe what you want. I don't care.
I've seen his videos plenty of times. This isn't my first rodeo dude.
And again, i didn't say YOU'RE 20%...
I said CLOSE TO 20% (17-20%).
If you think I'm wrong, go get a DEXA scan in fasted state with no water in your system... prove me wrong. The power of carbs compels me!

I would guess OP to be around 14% based on the bodyspace pics. Oddly he's about the same height and weight as me, but leaner and with less muscle - perhaps I have a light skeleton?!
Fat distribution and ab development are too variable to use the appearance of abs as a reliable indicator of body fat percentage. I'm a prime example - my core is underdeveloped compared to the rest of my physique, plus I store fat on my belly. I need to get down to about 15% in order to faintly see my abs while flexing in good lighting. At this point I have visible ribs and you can see striations in my pecs and delts because I store very little fat there.
Seriously, 20% is at the upper limit of a healthy body fat percentage - OP is not close to that IMO, he's lean and should focus on building muscle.

Well let's break that down..
If he's 14% at 82kg (181lb)... and the STAGE LEVEL leanness for a natural pro bodybuilder is around 6%... that would make him 165lb based on his current lean mass (using your 14% assumption) to get to that stage-level leanness.
You're basically saying THIS picture below is only 15-16lb away from being STAGE READY?
Keep in mind, THIS is 6%
So, you're saying OP is 15-16lb from that?Last edited by AdamWW; 10-12-2020 at 02:50 PM.

Since you can't seem to wrap your head around this...
OP has all of the indicators of having a lower BF percentage (Vascularity, upper abs showing, Etc.) that would normally be attributed to someone in the 12-13% BF range. The reason why I say that he is nearer to 15% is that he is disproportionately carrying more fat around his midsection. It is that extra, disproportionately distributed fat that put the percentage higher.
IE. He would be normally considered leaner (based upon all of the other indicators) if it weren't for the stores of lower abdominal fat.
It's just the way that his body holds onto fat. (Similar to how my body seems to store fat disproportionately on my lower back).
He is definitely not in the 18-20% range as you seem to think.~ Like Tae-Kwon-Leap, my goals are not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon.
