It's pretty much been 8yrs. since I trained with any consistency, starting back at 44 now.
Last couple years I've been eating like crap, lots of fast food and beer. Finally got tired of feeling tired every day and hungover pretty much every Saturday.
Started cleaning up my diet bigtime and right away found a lot more energy. I used to skip breakfast, drink a couple cups of coffe (sometimes yack it back up) and head to work. I own a small painting business so fairly easy to get away with it. Just get the guys started, leave and go take a nap somewhere in my truck if I felt too ****ty.
I'm finally through a solid week, or full round of training. Bench was a meager 135x5. Front squats hurt to even get down there and only managed 95x5 sets. Today though I had a little surprise morivation. I was able to fairly easily get a 325 deadlift, which was always far and away my best lift.
I've got 2 olympic bars and 500lbs. of plates split between outdoor area and a rack/bench in the basement. Pretty much doing compound routine for now with a few other additional excercises mixed in.
Thanks for reading and glad to see this forum is still alive and well as it was a great source of information and motivation in the past.

Thanks guys. I just did a chest workout and it's humbling. I have very poor strength and stamina starting out. I had planned on 5x5 sets of flat with just 135 but only got 3 reps on set 4 so switched to lighter incline then incline dumbells for higher reps. I guess I have to remember it took almost 2 years to be able to get 205 5x5 so it's not going to happen in 2 workouts.

No dumbbells or grip plates or two 50 lb boxes of kitty liter?
I have a pair of thesethat I can load pretty heavy, but there's a lot of ways to improvise a kettlebell.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.
