Proof that the GPU is WAY more important than the CPU for gaming

    https://youtu.be/jEyVcyadtNo

Gta5 is considered to be a "CPU intensive" game and this benchmark compares the best GPU+ worst CPU vs the best CPU+ worst GPU.

The best GPU+ worst CPU has about 3 times better frames.

I don't think anyone denies this. You still need a decent gpu for cpu intensive games it's just the type of CPU could be bottlenecked whereas most games won't bottleneck it

Did anyone think the CPU was more important? It’s only very specific games like WoW that can rape your CPU without even tickling your GPU

It does to a big extent tho.

I had a 7600k. 4 cores, overclocked decent. Decent cpu at the time. New enough I could run m.2 drives and upgrade my mother board. Solid right? It was for a while.

Then my 1080ti is bottle necking. Then games come out that demand more cpu and ram. In 2020 I can't even run call of duty and discord cause I get frame drops. I can't record any game play cause frame drops and crashes. Gets to the point where I'm closing every app I don't need and turning off my second monitor.

Then a couple weeks ago I get a 12 core ryzen 3900x. And now my framerstes in Warzone are way better, I am running every fukkin trash program I want while I play (looking at you icue), and I can record game play and use discord without voice lag.

So yeah. A good cpu makes a world of difference. Maybe the 7600k was just a ****ter. who knows. My 3750k on my VR pc still does pretty well even though I don't use it like my main pc.
Yes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is DOOM defiant.

I got paranoid and never installed Discord on my latest Windoze install. Not that I can't handle it, I have a 9900k, but mostly because I realized Steam audio chat works just as well if not better than Discord so I don't really need 2 programs for audio.

I still have discord phone app and on my laptop to join and chat in communities that interest me, but on my gaming machine I kinda don't need it and can just voice chat in the games or in the steam friends list.

I feel like over time Discord became suspect of bloat.

This, for a while 4 cores/4 threads was the sweet spot but that has changed. You can even get good frames with 4c/4t especially with higher clocks but you will get microstudders and some frame drops. Having more threads and cores really gets rid of all those. I have a 6400T 4c/4t system on my TV and had a 3770k i7 in my desktop that lasted forever but upgradding that to a 3600 6c/12t system completely removed the frame drops and microstuttering and now its very smooth.

never had a CPU fry, but had a system that fried 2 GPU's back to back. Bought a refurb motherboard, pretty sure it was what did it but couldnt be certain it wasnt my PSU either. So replaced both. The GPU's would still work in windows but their 3d section was fried and would articfact in any 3 application.
