    1977 Mustang GHIA

    https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars...-0l/1513913866

Always wanted a classic Mustang, but not familiar with this model. Anyone have any knowledge on it?

Would obviously like something late 60s, but this might be a good stepping stone to that and for the price and condition it looks like a steal.

    Thanks for any help

Mustang II... slow and under powered even by 1977 standards. It is a hard one to find only lightly molested for sale so that's a plus. Not as big a plus as you'd think, but a plus. The price seems fair but a lot of guys would just cut it up for the front suspension and part out the rest of it.

It's kind of a niche within a niche market. Not exactly what you think of when you think of a classic Mustang.

Kind of what I was thinking. I'm definitely not a motorhead or one who is looking to fix up a car. Want a ready done one so I thought maybe I had found a little gem

Will keep looking for a bit older one thats been done up. Any years or trims to really look for?

What's your budget? If you aren't someone that tinkers with cars, a restomod might be something you'd like so you don't have to fuss with a carburetor and all other old components.

Would there be something to look at in particular on ads to know or will they usually just say this and that being replaced?

Budget right now is probably ~15k Canadian which I know isn't going to get any of the better years or trims

I would personally save more until you can find exactly what you want. Stepping stone “classic” cars are huge money pits when they are not desirable (like the one you posted).

Those were the darkest days for Mustangs. You couldn't point me to a model or year that I dislike worse.

If you want to play with something for 5-6k keep an eye out for an 80s fox body.

If you really want a classic keep saving, this is in the same province.

As bad as Mustang II's are, they are sought after for their front suspension. Cheap and handles well.

Used to be big into mustangs and was on Mustang forums before the Misc. Anyways, there was this dark area, a gap from 1974-1978 that we just didn't talk about. Show up with one of those and people think there must be something wrong with you. Dork table at car shows basically. Anyways, fact is they were basically 2dr Pinto coupes basically.

Same. Used to go to Mustang shows with my dad and we'd see tons of Mustangs of all types except for Mustang 2s. Probably seen one in 5+ years of going to shows.

they had that phaggy period where emissions standards just came out and everything was megacucked with no work arounds yet. My dad wanted to buy an automatic 1981 corvette, that thing was a slow POS. Atleast the body was still good but cars sucked for a while. Ford took it a step further with a phaggy body style to match the phaggy performance.

Yep. It's pretty sad my 1975 Camaro with stock 350 V8 and 4BBL carb makes 155 HP and 250 FT/LBS torque.
