    Xbox One Controller for PC

I've always used an Xbox 360 wired controller when I play games like GTA or certain RPGs where keyboard and mouse is stupid, but the controller is getting old and sticking a lot so I'd like an upgrade.

Do any of you use a wireless Xbox One controller for their PC? I was looking them up on Amazon but everyone said you also need to buy some $40 adapter as well? And how's the battery life on them?

You do need the adapter, because Windows bluetooth connectivity is trash. It's only like $25. Well worth it, and the controller works perfectly.

I use the wired xbox one controller ... It's aight, I heard you can use it via bluetooth but cant be bothered. I reckon the adapter is for bluetooth purposes, but i cant say.

You could look into the DS4, thats bluetooth charging and wire/wireless .... But I dont like using the DS4 for pc because the button icons dont match up.

I used a wired one as well, because I didn't buy built in bluetooth for my pc and can't be bothered buying an adapter, but I heard as long as your xbox one controller isn't the original one(oldest versions), it supports bluetooth, so you can just buy those 10$ bluetooth usb adapters that are rated really high on amazon. My xbox is right beside my pc, so wired is no problem.

Thing that I hate is I bought the recharging dock thing that can recharge 2 controllers at a time, had 2 at that time. Should've bought the recharge and play cable instead. Even when my controller is hooked up to my pc or the xbox with a cable it won't recharge, unless I had the recharge and play kit.

Got some bluetooth adapter for it a couple of months back but realized it was for the xbox one and not the 360 which is the controller I was using, if you were in Australia, I'd ship it out to you free of charge if I can find it

I bought a rechargeable battery pack for my xbox one controller a few years ago that came with a USB cable that I use to connect my controller to my PC if I'm using a controller to play games. I cbf to mess with wireless connectivity on a PC so I just cop out and use a wire.

Guess I'm the only one that uses the Bluetooth connection. Works perfectly fine OP no need to buy an adapter.

My Elite controller came with an adapter, problem was back then you needed an adapter for each controller...

Version 2 of the adapter is out now, supports up to 8 controllers:

    https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Adap...language=en_US

Edit: cheaper on Ebay, got mine for under ~$17 from a deal posted on SD but that's dead

My PC has Bluetooth but connectivity is horrible. I tried connecting the controller via Bluetooth and it would drop the connection after a couple of minutes. After I got the adapter I had zero issues. Same goes for Logitech wireless peripherals. Using the unifying receiver makes it much better.

I have the dongle for mine and it works fine but I prefer to just plug it in with a USB so when I'm done I can just unplug it. Don't sit far enough away from my pc to care about wireless but I got a dongle packaged with my occulus rift.

Xbox Controllers are the GOAT of all controllers.

See if you could buy one off your friends used for cheaper, and then use the USB to Micro USB cable for the controller. This will prevent you from needing any adapter, and it will also require the controller to not need batteries. You could get a new controller for like $50 and then be good for years. I've bought 2 Xbox One Controllers on top of the one I got with the console. One of them broke because I accidentally spiked it on the ground when I died because of BS. Otherwise one is 3 years old and is perfectly fine and the other is 7 years old and perfectly fine.

from my point of view it is not worth spending on it, better connect it by cable and now. you take off the problem of the battery and the adapter

I'm also in this boat. Use an Xbone controller with my emulation desktop, it's a dinosaur on an old Z87 but the bluetooth connection works with 0 problems at all, no adapter needed. USB cable for a direct connection also works.

Hell, I've even paired two Xbone controllers at once to that computer via Bluetooth, works fine. IIRC that "bluetooth adapter" mentioned is only needed in certain situations with the old Xbox 360 controllers.

Yeah I use the wireless Xbox one official adapter and it works perfectly. Just a lil usb mini dongle.

Way better than bluetooth it’s just it’s own thing nothing else to worry about

Batteries last a long time too like normal

See if you could buy one off your friends used for cheaper, and then use the USB to Micro USB cable for the controller. This will prevent you from needing any adapter, and it will also require the controller to not need batteries. You could get a new controller for like $50 and then be good for years. I've bought 2 Xbox One Controllers on top of the one I got with the console. One of them broke because I accidentally spiked it on the ground when I died because of BS. Otherwise one is 3 years old and is perfectly fine and the other is 7 years old and perfectly fine.

This is the only Xbox One wireless controller in-stock on Amazon.ca

Should I pull the trigger on that CP2077 merch?

Look up a guide on YouTube on how to clean out your X360 controller. I actually prefer the X360 controller's comfort than the newer DS4 and XBONE controllers. It seems your controller is fully functional but just needs some cleaning.

Agreed, the wired 360 controller is still the king for PC Gaming. I've had mine for 7 years now and just last week I took it apart, oiled the springs and cleaned the gunk. Good as new bro.

    Nope.

Xbox one is more modern, ergonomic and crisp.

With the official wireless adapter its the CONSENSUS best setup for a PC game controller.
