    My Weight Loss Journey

    Hi guys,

For all my life I was an overweight/obese person. I find losing weight extremely difficult as I tried everything from Keto to Intermittent fasting and nothing has worked effectively. I lose 5 kg (11.1 lbs) in 3 weeks and then 2 weeks later I regain the weight. I don't understand why I'm going up and down. I just want to lose the weight forever but it comes back to further lower my esteem. I just want to live a healthy live and not die prematurely from a lifestyle disease. Before COVID, I was an fairly active person as I liked playing half court basketball and other sports but I think COVID is worsening the condition as I'm sitting around all day. Plus it not advantageous to have an asian diet rich with carbohydrates. I just need some proper help. All the advice I'm getting from my 'Family' isn't useful. I really need help on how to cut down this COVID season and would happily document my journey with you guys.

    My figures

Im 183 cm (6 ft) tall and weigh 132.7kg (293 lbs). Sadly I'm only 21 years old.

    Count calories

Be aware that rapid changes in weight (like when you lose 2kg in the first week) are usually mostly just movements of water and food in transit - which can come back at any time. Of course you're interested in losing the underlying fat which is a slower process.

This is why counting calories helps. You know if you are consuming 500 less than you burn every day, you should lose 1lb a week. If you lose 3lbs in the first week, you know that 2lbs was from water.

Try starting with 2000 calories a day and see how you get on.

Try to do some exercise every day and always be pushing yourself to do more reps or a bigger weight or do it for longer etc.

Read the 'basics' sticky thread at the top of the page.
