    Hang clean and press

What muscles does this excersize hit? My guess is side felt, front delt, traps as the 3 primary.

Hang clean = hamstrings, glutes, traps
Push press = anterior delt, some lateral delt, traps and triceps

You don't think the upright pulling motion of the hang clean hits side delts much?

That's not a hang clean then. Look up the movements on exrx and compare.

Add in some lumbar/low back/abs, even thought the hang clean is a hinge they are involved.
These(hang clean and press) are a compound movement that uses many muscles together as a unit to complete the lift.
Im sure also you could throw in many other areas also.
Maybe a good warm up before getting into shoulder work or a great conditioning movement with lighter weights and higher reps.

    Suffolk right.
You may be guiding the weight up with your arms to rack position but you are not pulling with the arms.
The main power comes from the hip extension to get it to the rack position.
