I typically side with the players but I don’t know how they have an argument for not taking a pay cut. MLB attributes a larger portion of their revenue to ticket sales/ballpark revenues as their tv deals are some of the worst in professional sports. Owners are going to take a significant hit this year and the players have to understand it’s not in their best interest to argue over millions of dollars when $30+ million people are unemployed. The nba already cut player salaries. I hope the league finds a way to play and if players would rather not play for a reduced salary and subject themselves to the risk then they can sit at home and I would fully support them.

Billionaires vs Millionaires playing a game, hard to sympathize with either side.

Both sides should try to agree on a one year deal. Circumstances being what they are, there should be an effort to play baseball somehow, especially after NHL and now it looks like NBA are figuring it out. And if NHL schedule goes forward as they are thinking over the summer, it will compete directly with baseball anyway.

I also think guys who could play but choose not to should take a reduced salary. You shouldn't get paid millions to sit at home if others are playing the game.

The season would've been 162 games but now will be reduced to 82 which is about half.

Contract or no contract. At best the players should accept a 50% pay cut.

They want to play 82 games and get payed for 162. Not gonna happen.

Player salaries will be cut. They won’t adjust their finances. They’ll go bankrupt even sooner. And the world will still spin and life will go on

It’s not nearly that simple. This isn’t prorated pay based on a shortened season. The players union agreed to a prorated salary reduction months ago. The owners want the players to take an even larger cut to offset the loss in gate revenue but the players feel that the owners are the ones that should bear those losses. The way the owners structured their proposal would result in top end players having their salaries reduced by over 75%.
