My Journey - Started 7th April

    Hi all

    32 years young

Based in UK looking for advice. Currently eating 2,250 calories a day and tracking through MFP.. weighing everything and tracking anything entered my mouth. Not eating junk food, getting in 2L water a day and general multi vits / cod liver oil

Doing 3-4 walks and tracking them through Map My Walk, typically 4-5k per walk and aiming for 10,000 steps every day

Love chicken and rice, don’t mind veggies.. my main issue was snacking which I have eliminated now

    Weigh in

    SW - 7th April - 1st weigh in - 384.2
    14th April - 2nd weigh in - 380
    21st April - 3rd weigh in - 376.6
    28th April - 4th weigh in - 372.8

    Month 1 = 11.4 pounds lost / -2.5% body fat / -1.7 BMI

    CW - 8th May - 5th weigh in - 373

Am I being unrealistic or should someone at my size be losing weight quicker? I’ve done everything by the book this week and gained 0.10 in weight and up .1 in body fat which I know is minor but still doesn’t make any sense to me

Any advice is appreciated. Suffer with mental heath and feeling down which stems from the weight so I do want to drop it as quick as possible but doing it healthy at the same time

I weigh myself on a smart scale

You're losing 4lbs a week, which isn't far off 1% of your total weight - you're in a good place.

Just keep up the exercise/workouts, eat consistently at under maintenance, weigh at the same time each day, trust the process.

Just takes time. Don't worry about the fluctuations - maybe download an app like libra weight manager that tracks and plots a trend line - it'll confirm you're going in the right direction.

Looks like an Android only app? Do you know if there is an IOS alternative?

Thanks for the kind words. It just got me down abit with today’s weigh in as when you divide the weight loss across the 5 weeks now it averages out at 2 something pounds a week and I’m a big guy, I just expected more in the beginning as all you ever hear is ‘the heavier you are the quicker you’ll drop big weight’

Could be a number of things. More salt in a recent meal causing the body to retain more water, muscle holding water post exercise, waste inside the body.

I was up 1.2kg this week and then dropped 0.8kg between yesterday and today - it's just the body doing what it needs to do. My trending weight is 89.3kg as in the past week I have been anywhere from 89.4kg to 88.2kg. You're much better off working with averages. Unfortunately I don't know of an iOS version of that libra app, but the first google result is:

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/weight...t/id1350847979

I have no experience with that app, so check the reviews first to ensure it actually does what it's supposed to.
