    Knee Chondromalacia aka Patellofemoral Syndrome

Does anyone recover from Chondromalacia aka Patellofemoral Syndrome before? Could you please share your experience?

Got my MRI report today and it is attached below (no tear, just grade 2-3 chondromalacia in several places).

6 weeks ago my right knee swelled badly after running and heavy squats, no pain. Since then I stopped exercise but do following:
-- Physical theropy: streatch hams, quads, IT band, do lots of VMO muscle and gluteus medius strengthening exercise, some abductor and adductor exercise, 50-pound single leg prcess (foot position high), single leg extension up to 45 degree with 5-pound ankle weight. No issue with these exercise
-- Take anti inflammatory medication meloxicam on and off for a total of 20 days
-- Ice 2-3 times a day, inferential red light sometimes, sleep with elevated legs, form rolling
-- Take join supplements, fish oil, turmeric

It has bare minimum improvment as of today, my right knee still swells noticeably after doing 2 sets of body weight lunge (right knee no more than 90 degree and shin vertical) or air squats (push hip back as far as possible to keep shin vertical).

The remaining options I am aware of are:
    - Cortisone
    - PRP
    - Surgery

    Any recommendation?
