Diesel Owners In Utah On Suicide Watch

    ksl.com/article/46728050/judge-orders-diesel-brothers-to-pay-850k-for-violating-clean-air-act

Anyone who's watched the Diesel Brothers know what they are doing is against the law but honestly where does this end? There are tons of automotive shows where mods are going on that are considered "For Highway Use Only" type mods, nobody is driving these cars/trucks off road for the most part.

As a diesel owner (unmodified) and a classic muscle car owner, this precedence worries me.

My poverty post counts don't let me post a complete link.

Damn that’s messed up. First thing I did when I got my mega cab, fk having them Cali castrated. Reminds me a few years back when Cali outlawed after market exhaust systems, especially for motorcycles. Even most slip ons are illegal and it’s at least a $1000 fine(no fix a ticket always a citation) They said dealers we’re going to be fined 250k for every install after the ban

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. If you're going to break a federal law, don't document it.

This is federal. ****s gonna be piss.

Black market will be hot for these mods now. Cold day in hell before I drive a diesel with all that crap in it. Current rigs are pre emissions but looking to buy another one.
Also these dumbasses document everything of course the feds are gonna come knocking.

Would you rather have them commit fraud by not documenting it? It doesn’t matter if they call it the kunt special. It wasn’t the feds who filed the lawsuit

The Diesel-gate debacle with VW should have been the red herring to let them know that the gov and EPA weren't f'ing around. I remember knowing of shops that would delete equipment and I didn't want to get involved and I heard "ain't nobody ever gets in trouble for that" which seems to be true until they do. I've sort of argued with people several times when they say things like "if the vehicle is over 7500lbs it doesn't apply" or even that because they live outside counties that test for emmissions then they don't have to have it. My buddy bought a truck that had emissions equipment malfunctioning and the dealer said that because they were in a "non-emissions county" and he also live in one, they didn't have to fix it. Dude straight up told me that federal law doesn't apply in counties. Dude got all pissy with me too, telling me I was wasting his time. Made a few phone calls and let someone else waste his time.

    Serves those fookers right.

Look, im all for ICE cars - in fact im an exective at GM fighting against the movement towards "sustainable" EVs. But anytime I see people drive around large hulking trucks with no cargo in the back? Fk that chit, they need to be fined.

Trucks can pollute all they want because of the type of jobs they take on and it should be that way. But don't use it as a dd economy car.

Are you suggesting everyone should basically have a specialty vehicle depending on their driving needs that day? I didn't pay for a truck so it can be used sometimes and only for cargo. I bought the 6.7 diesel because my last truck, a Nissan Titan, stayed at about 4500rpm the whole time towing our trailer. Then on the way back from Bryce Canyon two years ago we hit a storm with high winds...fukkk that I'm never going through that again. Hit a similar storm last year in the Ram and barely noticed any differences. I've heard so many people say, "oh, you can't DD diesels its bad for them". Maybe the older gens but not now, they've come a long way.

Then again I'm not one to add to the bad reputation of diesel owners, I don't plan on removing any of my emissions equipment nor do I give a **** if my truck rolls coal or I can hear the turbos. If I want loud, fast, and obnoxious I've got my muscle car for that. But I do have to agree with you the extensive lifts, big rims, and shiit like that only serve to decrease it's towing capability which makes no sense to me.

Diesel bothers aren't the only entity that got into trouble. Every single tuner to delete emissions has been removed from the market. There are still a few people selling the chit on ebay for 3 times what it's actually worth, but the OG tuners like Kory Willis aren't even writing emissions delete tunes anymore. Diesel owners from this point forward are going to be stuck with emissions compatible tuning setups. I'm so glad i kept my 05 with no emissions. I would imagine the older trucks, just like in the trucking industry, are going to go up massively in value. No one wants a diesel with 8k dollars worth of emissions bullchit underneath it. Most guys who work their trucks for a living are simply going to restore the older trucks.

What im saying is this, if you arn't using a truck for its capabilities its one of the worst vehicles to dd in - according to my standards which is:

    -mpg
    -ride comfort
    -cost effectiveness
    -aesthetics
    -space
    -pollution
    -high rollover
-more danger to those around you

[QUOTE=tunafishha;1599532191]What im saying is this, if you arn't using a truck for its capabilities its one of the worst vehicles to dd in - according to my standards which is:

-mpg - I get about 18 mpg, almost the same as my wife's Jaguar F-pace (smallish SUV) but then I don't care about MPG.

-ride comfort - I've got factory airbags installed, if you haven't been in a newer HD truck you'd be surprised just how nice they ride.

-cost effectiveness - If you're talking point A to B then I guess you have a point but then you might as well go get yourself a Corolla

-aesthetics - Different stokes different folks. I think both cars and trucks look great, some more than others.

-space - You got me there, parking an HD truck sucks.

-pollution - Maybe, there seems to be a lot on the internet arguing both ways

-high rollover - Ok, any vehicle with a high center of gravity will do this including the ever popular crossovers. It's not a truck thing.

-more danger to those around you - How so? Because I'm heavier? I'd say the 19 yr old female driving the Mazda while posing for her next instagram pic is more a danger. This is the same argument that can be had with guns. It's the driver that creates a danger to others, not the vehicle.

    1. Trucks simply eat more gas than a regular suv and sedan. You're comparing a luxury suv to a truck, which doesn't make sense since luxury cars are not meant to be efficient in anything. You may not care about mpg, but the majority of the population does. Its why cars like Priuses exist. If I can afford an F-Pace I wouldn't worry about gas prices either. No offense, but this is why it would be very bad if you were in an executive position like me. You'd think about no one else but yourself.

    2. If you got the money, you can make anything ride nice. Me personally I just want a capable truck for the lowest amount of $.

    3. While it is true that safety is dependent on the driver, 38k people died from car accident in 2019 - this shows that driving skills is not up to snuff. Knowing that, you wouldn't leave that option up for grabs. The difference between a gun and a truck is that trucks and cars are meant to be for mobility(unless hauling stuff) - if you drive a sedan, you still have mobility efficiency - while being less dangerous. Whereas if I took away your gun - made for killing, you'd can still kill with a knife, but with less efficiency.

Like I said, I think trucks are goat but only when they are used properly. The problem is that people arn't using them properly, which is why I said what I said about the Diesel Bros.
