Push ups on days after Upper body workouts?

Any problems with doing push-ups on lower body days if you follow an Upper/Lower Split? Some days I wanna train chest but I know I should be recovering. Would doing anywhere from 50-100 total pushups by the end of the day impede recovery?

FWIW my max bench press is around 140 lbs. I train Upper then lower and take rest days.

And you think doing 50-100 pushups on your Lower days (the day after your Uppers, on a day you say you should be recovering instead) is going to help your 140 lb 1RM?

I'd be just as worried what your Chest workout looks like on your Upper days too.

I'm following Candito's Strength/Hypertrophy program. Not doing push ups to help out my bench, just something to satisfy my desire to give myself a chest pump.

You’re missing the point. I just like the feeling of my chest being pumped

Knock yourself out and do pushups every day.

Sorry, I definitely did. I assumed there was a legit point.

Biceps pump feels better than chest pump IMO. If you don't care about muscle development, you could also do a bunch of curls every day.

Assuming proper form you could be pushing close to 2/3rd your bodyweight with push-ups so it is entirely possible you are getting more volume and intensity doing them than you are under the bar. Maybe just do them as part of your upper days and let your chest recover on rest days?

I don't think there is anything wrong with doing it.
Have a purpose and what is your intent with doing them.
I think pushups are good healthy movement for your shoulders allowing the scapula to spread and contract.
The chest and upper body get some work also.
I do them as either a warm up or cool down.
IMO they will not get your bench press stronger just be a general upper body movement.
If you do them throughout the day and not all at once it's easier on the nervous system but doing them with or after training could tap into recovery.
I would alter volume from day to day also do lower reps nothing over 10 a set.
You could even try ladders 1,2,3,4,5 would be one ladder equaling 15 reps,an easy way to add volume without taxing the nervous system.

Thx for the response. Even though I plan on doing 50+ total reps at the end of the day, I only do about 8-10 pushups per set.

Don't some trainees do something called "Greasing the Groove" where they perform daily push ups and chinups throughout the day, avoiding failure?
