How much weight should I lose?

I am currently 30 years old 6’ tall weighing 200 pounds and I would estimate 23ish body fat. My goal is getting my body in better shape. If you were in my position what weight would you cut down to before bulking?

No one knows. Just keep losing until youre satisfied with what you see in the mirror
Second by second, you lose the opportunity of becoming the person you want to be.

With a lack of muscle it’s usually better to not get too lean before going into a muscle building phase

It’s best to start weight training now and not wait until trying to add muscle. This will help maintain what muscle you do have.

Ultimately depends on your body goals. I don't want to look skinny in clothes and good a few times a year at the pool or beach. I can't imagine a 6 foot tall man needing to be under 200 pounds. I'm 6'3 and I think I want to walk around about 225 in the summertime.

But.... some people want to be super lean. In that case, you may need to lose 20, 30, 40 pounds. Who knows? As others have said, post a pic for a better answer.

Everyone is different, but 200 lbs is actually overweight for most 6' tall men unless they have a significant number of years of strength training history. I'm 6'5" and I'm not lean (~12%) unless I'm down around 195-200.

OP, post a photo for best advice.
All it takes is consistency, effort, proper nutrition, good programming, and TIME.

Only reason I didn’t take a photo yet is because I’m not allowed to post them yet

Or just post a photo to an image hosting site and then put the link here (with a couple spaces), like http: // www.site.whatever
