    Got a Peloton

Wife has been wanting one for ages so we researched and got it. It just seemed well made and a ton of classes. I liked it way better than a bike at the gym and it could be the one thing that gets me to do cardio. It definitely tickles the competive streak in you and I'm looking forward to using it when the wife doesn't. Time passes quickly and it's not boring.

Sadly I'll have to eat a bit more to compensate (eating has always been a challenge).

Anyone else have one? Thoughts, experiences?

I think the concept is great. I saw an ad from a competitor mocking Peliton for doing the "hiss of shame" to someone who wasn't keeping up, hilarious.

Right here in the O35 I've gotten the "hiss of shame" for free. Where that brought me was to a mountain of PR's, new REAL friends, trophies, great stories and no small amount of equipment trading.

If it works for you it works, I just feel like it's another step down the road of the digital divide.

    It's a form of mid-life crisis

First, it will start oh so innocently enough, you'll be discussing the best kind of clip/cleat on the bottom of shoes. Next you'll get a Peloton bumper sticker
That's the start of the slippery slope downhill. In very short time your judgment will be corrupted and you'll decide you look good going out of your house wearing spandex/lycra cycling clothing - does the world really need to see that?

    You were warned

I think their system is a great idea, good luck with it!

Cycling is one of my guilty pleasures, wish I had more time for it, also wish I had a regular sparring partner for when I do. So I could see how Peloton can address that.

Cyclists who lift weights look good in Lycra.

    Hey gal!

It really is. I've done more cardio in 4 days than 10 years. Lisa's shoes finally came in and she enjoyed her first ride even though I was hovering... She says hey BTW

Hey Dru, good buy. Is there a subscription or are there different levels of service?

    Dru,

How do they challenge you? Is it based on wattage?

I like riding my bike, but even though I bought a "smart trainer" for use with my actual bike, I have yet to use it in two years I'm MUCH more apt to ride outside . . . even riding when it's in the 30's.

You get the bike or the treadmill. The service is a $39 monthly fee. Thousands of classes, not just for the bike or treadmill, but yoga, cardio, calisthenics too. Instructors seem really good so far.

I like riding my bike, but even though I bought a "smart trainer" for use with my actual bike, I have yet to use it in two years I'm MUCH more apt to ride outside . . . even riding when it's in the 30's.
They push you on cadence and resistance. The combination of the two is output. Real time output I think is kj, but the total is kw. I'll double check when I ride later.

At max resistance I can only do 50 rpm for 20 seconds or so. It's definitely tough.

I have nothing to say about the Peloton but I want to post and say that Lisa and I met Andrew and his woman 2 years ago in Dominican Republic and he is a good ****.

We had some beers on the beach then a storm rolled in and ruined the party.

    Good times.

I sold an excercise bike from my basement yesterday. I cleaned it up and put batteries in it, rode it awhile and realized I should keep it. Buyer drove 30 miles so I honored the deal

Just saw an ad on tv and it claimed the subscription was $58 a month?

That's if you take their financing option for the bike. Instead of forking over the $2500 you can finance at $58/month + the $39/mo subscription to the workouts.

It has interested me a lot. Might pull the trigger eventually.

This looks like great for anyone who can do inside cardio.

I do a $hit load of cardio.. All outside. I don't know how many times over the last 40 + year I tried inside cycling, treadmills, elliptical etc.. It never lasted... From spring to fall I do several rides a week that are 4+ hours and the rest are shorter rides between an hr or two.. But my ass cannot stay on indoor equipment for 15 mins. I'd sooner, hike, walk, run cycle outside, for me this is fun, where as inside cardio is just boring af and is more like work.

I am sure the Peloton will be great for some people, it's just not for me though.
