Just received my LT5 (Corvette ZR1) crate engine - Ultima RS build

First piece of my Ultima RS puzzle arrived (well second, technically, after the Porsche G97.50 transaxle). I got the ECM/harness and accessories (alternator, A/C compressor, belts, pulleys, etc.) as well (not pictured).

755hp/715tq stock (though said to be around 780 with just headers).

I'm thinking of ported heads, ported blower, cam, 112mm throttle body, and ID1050X injectors for a solid 1000whp on E85.

Chevy guys- thoughts as to the best? There are so many available products, etc for these motors.

I'll use this as my build thread and post updates, if anyone cares to look. I think it'll be a pretty cool and interesting project.

I will neg you for life if you don't keep this thread updated with build progress. My dream is to build an Ultima or Factory5 GTM.

As 1slo5oh said, I'd keep it fairly simple...maybe even stock in the beginning.

    Looking forward to seeing more.

The pushrods, springs, etc all need to be changed if I do a cam so I figured why not? The chassis doesn't get here until summer time so I'll do all the engine mods before it ever gets here. The rest of the car is definitely going to be simple and with weight savings in mind. Here's a factory photo of the car and I specced mine without that giant muffler and no cats. It's going to sound like a C7R probably.

Thanks man. I plan on doing a video build log and uploading it to YouTube. Eventual plans for the car are to put in a C8 transaxle and have paddles. I'm sure someone will create a kit and the programming for it. Initially, it will have a box out of a Porsche 997 Turbo car. I received mine, opened it, and am putting a Wavetrac diff in it. I'm waiting on proper shims for one of the bearings. Once that's done, I'm painting it black and it will sit until the car is ready for it.

    Inside the tranny-

    Wavetrac-

Wavetrac next to the stock, open diff. You can see what a unit the Wavetrac is...

I don't think you'll make 1000rwhp on ID1050's. I maxed them out on my old setup on e85 and had to go id1300's and make 770rwhp at around 83% duty cycle.

    On what engine?

This engine uses direct injection primarily. It then uses port injection to supplement the DI when loads require it.

The DI system is mechanically driven by a lobe on the camshaft. When you do a cam upgrade, you can specify an overdrive fuel lobe. In my case, I'll be doing a 38% increase on the DI side, with ID1050s on the port side to supplement. Advanced Modern Performance has a similar setup (+38% DI and ID1050x port) on their ZR5 package that nets 1100rwhp on pump E85 (I think that's with meth injection though).

    I made over 900 with ID1050's on E85 in my '13 GT...

But I would absolutely go with the ID1300's right from the get go if you plan on being in the ballpark of HP...

Engine/ECU/Accessories was $22,310 shipped (buddy has an acct with Summit racing which saved a few dollars).
    G97/50 transaxle was $10,500.
Car was $95,000 but I specced it with almost every option- CF wing, splitter, cannards, alcantara dash with contrast stitching, front lift kit, upgraded brakes, their crazy headlight kit with sequential LEDs, AIM dash system will all sensors, air conditioning, etc, etc.

I still need to buy some Tillett B6XL Screamer seats, a clutch, engine to trans adapter, and wheels (I didn't want the stock ones). I'll be in total around $140k probably.

You can build one MUCH cheaper though. LS motor, regular 911 transaxle, regular gauges, no carbon fiber, etc.

Thanks man. The car is inspired by Group C Le Mans cars which have that distinctive windshield shape. I assume that's just the most efficient way to do it.

1000hp in 1000kgs. Nice. Is this going to be a track or street car? Have you taken any professional driving courses? If not, what is the crash rating? Looks like no airbags?

Can be street car they are street legal which is insane. For the price these things look so insane. For the $140k price does it have a little better look in the interior?

I'm going to enjoy it on the street for the most part but would definitely like to do an occasional track day. I'm in Florida so there are track days at Sebring, Daytona, Homestead, and Palm Beach International. I don't have "professional" driving experience but I've had decently quick street cars- nothing at this level though. I don't know how they hold up in crashes but there are no airbags, no traction/stability control, no ABS. Just a pure analog unrestricted race car basically.

Nah unfortunately the interior is pretty poverty. I meant to post a photo of the mid engine layout (which I changed in my post), not the interior. It's very basic, kit-car interior. Mine will not have analog gauges like the photo... it will be all digital through an AIM MXS dash. Also it won't have a stereo because I doubt I'll be able to hear much anyways. A/C is a must in Florida though.

Get some. Hit up the Porsche school in Atlanta or something. You have a ton of power in a light package. I've seen lots of people get in something as tame as a Corvette and crash immediately. 1000hp in 1000kg is a different level. Get some training so you don't crash and kill yourself.

Fukking sick build and I'm jelly AF.

Anyone can have traction issues regardless of the car. I could burn through tires/have traction issues in my stupid little Civic by driving like an idiot. If OP can afford to build this car, he can afford to:

    1. Get manufacture support for car set up, suspension, spring rates, shock set up, etc.
    2. Have Pro driver fine tune the car for a nice neutral set up or whatever OP prefers.
    3. Do a few HPDE schools to learn the car. It's not like this will be a DD but it would be beneficial to learn the car and its limits.
    4. If he does track days, I'm sure he'd be running proper tires/wheels and not street meat

I'm excited to see this build. Definitely unique and I love this car. Have a few that show up to our local C&C meets from time to time.

Aren't most F1 cars turbo? Was just thinking the Supercharger would make things difficult with all of the torque.

Yes, F1 cars are mainly inboard F1 turbos. This design is so insanely different. Show me your direct inject overheads!

brah, it's a build-it-yourself race car...why would it have airbags? lol
the whole thing is a tubular frame with cage built in, so in full race gear you're safe. on the street however, you're probably ok

I still need to buy some Tillett B6XL Screamer seats, a clutch, engine to trans adapter, and wheels (I didn't want the stock ones). I'll be in total around $140k probably.

How do you figure? If there is a tubular frame, one of the rails is normally near the head. No airbag + hard tube my your head + hard steering wheel in front of your head doesn't sound like a good time. Just because the car is strong doesn't mean the person is protected.
